That's what I did in the end. Submitted in both formats. I don't think I can submit my other article as I am not satisfied with it yet so I'll submit it to Cybershadow instead when I finish it.

Nerroth/Gary, it's probably a good idea[in hindsight] to send in the Word Document 'just in case'. You never know, they *may* be really picky, or have a really close tie as the winner...

Submission rules do say that they "prefer work submitted in Mircosoft Word but will look at submissions in any compatible word processing programme."

Of course PDFs aren't really exactly word processing material.  :p

Another question. The submission guidelines say that "Before you hit the PC you should know that by submitting your article you are handing over copyright and all rights to the material to Games Workshop."

Does this mean we can't put our articles here if we don't win the competition?

Pheh. I don't think they'll grudge us that. If they did, I'd quite happily walk away from the game.

That said, .pdfs are easier to view. If they like it and need to edit things for publishing, then they can look at the handy word file we made them too. We're just trying to help.

I'm glad the photo part is optional, I can't find anyone with a digital camera :p

To make up for the lack of a picture of my ship, I decided to draw it in paint :D  At best it looks half-decent, at worst it should be worth a laugh.


Thanks for the note about the hyphen d'Artagnan, if I even realized the message hadn't gotten through I probably would've  kept trying the address on the main page LOL

Whew! Well, I finally submitted my article and picture. Overall, I was less happy with the final version than I wanted to be. The stats were OK as I worked on them first, the background was not too bad, the assembly I was very pleased with (although it turned out a little different than I imagined) but the painting was rushed (I only painted the top, and the half facing the camera! I will need to go back and finish it off later). I hope that they dont hold that against me! I submitted mine as a Word file.

I would guess that they will accept pretty much any format, but that they wont spend a lot of time trying to get it to work if they have trouble. Since I am fairly sure that they can access PDF files, you should be OK.  ???

With regards to ownership of copyright, I think that SG legally do own the copyright of anything sent. However, if they make it clear that they will not be using the article submitted, I would say that they would not worry too much and would have a hard time causing trouble about it (and, is the article is the same after you change just the name?).

Anyway, the spirit of the case is that SG wont publish or associate themselves with anything that has been distributed already, which I can understand.
