Here's a report about the Necrons facing the Bug monstrosity know as The Termagant Terror!
I've got a couple questions/comments to make about Necrons that were generated by this fight and I'll post them soon.

Thanks for addressing the Gauss Flux Arc question in the Tyranid thread Corey!
My other question was about the Abattoir's critical hit effect. ?It seems odd that it gets a save (Living Metal) against its own critical and it almost seems potentially beneficial to the Abattoir if it happens while surrounded by enemy units.
Might I suggest the following change:
Critical Hit: Capacitor explosion. The Abattoir suffers an additional point of damage and inflicts a MW 4+ TK(1) attack on every unit within 5cm.
As well, the with the Aeonic Orb critical generating a BP 4 (MW) attack on a crit, does that mean *two* templates are placed?
Thanks! ?And we've had great fun playtesting the Necrons!

Yes, it can be potentially beneficial to the Abattoir, but then, so can a lot of criticals.
The Chaos Titan crits for example.
And as to the Aeonic Orb, it places only a single template, centered on itself (I've made the changes to the new list to point that out).
I should point out that the last time I fielded a Harvester engine, the crits did more damage to them than the enemy. (in fact my orb did 3 wounds to itself off a single hit )
And thank you for all the playtesting! I need all the info I can get.

The Chaos Titan crits for example. | I believe, in the latest version, the Chaos Titan criticals were redone to avoid precisely that, that, while a crit may hurt the enemies, it should, basically, always hurt the war engine suffering it.

EXACTLY - crit should be bad. They are a reward for the enemy, not a boon to the controlling player!

Imperial and Ork Titan crits are only POTENTIALLY bad.
In fact, on an Imperial Battle Titan, there's a 50% chance that nothing bad will happen to them at all.
For their scout titan, the crit is almost laughable.
Ork Titans have it a little worse, since they only have a 33% chance of having it do nothing, but then they don't have the 1 in 6 chance of it blowing up like an Imperial Battle titan does.
I just dont' understand this insistance that everyone seems to have that every race with BETTER technology should have more brutal crits. Like the silly crit on the Eldar titans.
It's not really a bad idea to use crits to help balance out a unit (the crits on Engines of Vaul for example are a good balance).
You'll note, that the crit that happens to the Aeonic Orb is more severe than the Abattoir's. That's because the Orb is, frankly, a more effective unit. And because it's a stand off ranged unit, that crit is less likely to effect an enemy unit.
Now, what I have been considering is denying the Abattoir it's save, simply because it IS coming from inside, and reducing the effect on surrounding units to a normal hit.

And, I believe, the reason the "hi-tech" crits are worse is that when something goes wrong in a hi-tech, hi-energy environment, it really goes wrong! *laugh*
