Hey sorry if this was addressed before but I couldn't find it:

If a unit (monolith for example) is broken,  can "other formations" use its portal???

if a monolith breaks it phases out and teleports back in for other formations to use later.

yes, the Portal is still usable since it requires no action on the part of the portal bearing unit, only the formation using the portal.

Nice,   Thanks!

It could even be worth having a monolith without obelisks.

You teleport,
With luck, you get to shoot but who cares if you don't
you use the portal
you phase out
repeat next turn.

Good thing is that EACH Turn  you get to position the monolith wherever you need it.  A pain in the back for the enemies who have to shoot once and again at a cheap but endurable formation.

Without Obelisks to screen them, they will die fast.

Your oppnents will concentrate fire on it as a first option to keep you from making use of it.

Unless they don't have LOF to the monolith.

Could this be exploited in any way with terrain use?

Cheers,

The only race that will quickly kill a monolith and obelisk retinue would be Eldar, and their thrice damned double retention. Their heavy hitters are skimmers, so there's no place to hide them.

You could take three Phalanxes, with a Monolith and Oblisks, and have the Eldar kill them all first activation. That would really put your plans in a bunch.
