A little hope is glimmering...Admiral Lonius, which I believe is the one responsible for those Voss Prows, has become an Epicomms member in january 2006.

Quote (BlackLegion @ 14 Feb. 2006 (09:41)) | A friend of me (Niedersterngezuecht from the german Epic-Forum) is on the way to build the Voss-Prow from resin. If finished, he is able to cast multiple prows from it

Hi BH
When I click on the link I get as far as "http://www.foren-city.de/404.html". I have tried navigating around the homepage but my German is not good enough to understand!! By trial and error I managed to find the gaming section of the site, but there were 67 pages!!
Please could you check the link and/or post image of how far he has got.
Thanks very much
James

Hi BL
That link works perfectly- thanks very much.
Apart from saying "Mein Gott!!" I don't think I can add anything further.
If your friend has built it from scratch in resin, are there any IP issues in him selling/trading resin copies?
Thanks
James

That's a great piece of sculpting, however as wargame_insomniac mentions, it would certainly seem that this would constitute theft of intellectual property since it undisputably copies the design of the Voss prow pretty accurately ( that's why it's so good! ). Just because GW isn't selling the design at the moment does not entitle others to do so ( although IIRC a design becomes public domain if it isn't used by the IP holders for certain number of years ).
I guess it all depends on whether GW decides to flex its legal muscles on the issue.

Best thing to do is contact Andy or Jervis at Specialist Games. Heck, get a contract from GW to produce those prows for them.

I've just been made aware of this topic! You can't sell a model of the prow as it is an IP issue (there are loop holes around this but you start doing things that are ilegal for other reasons, harder to trace but with a far harsher penalty!)
Anyway, There are no plans from SG to release a Voss prow! (that I know of)
FW are thinking about it, but are so busy doing what they want to that it hasn't been put in motion.
The problem with the model was the thin bit just before the engines. The problem occurs because it's a metal model and they use a centifuge (sp!) to make metal models. Becasue of the shape this lead to the engine section often making the model unacceptable to sell (due to too little metal getting to the edge of the mould where the engine is). It was something like 10-20% that were naff, meaning they'd need actual people to sort through it all and pick out the crap ones (they just don't have the resources for that, it would also make the model bloody expensive!). If I recal correctly they tried 'overflowing' the mould to try and get enough metal in there but this wears the moulds out too quickly and is not at all cost affective! (the Models would have to be sold at about ?100 each, or more!)
But the prow is fine! However it is extremely unlikley that this will be released any time in this decade! Since the Battle fleet mars ships 'should' be comming out in a year or so!
Now for the boast!
I've got one of the Endeavour variants (Defiant) that appears in Armada! I've also handled the Mars fleet master models in thier seperate pieces on the day they were going to have thier moulds made! (they are so damned good! Seriously, I HAVE to get these models!) Also, I'm the writter for Battle Fleet Mars! (double nova cannon baby!)
Have fun,
RayB
