Very impressive.  Especially considering it is almost all scrathed built

We'll see, but waiting years for something to be released is not a good sales technique.  However, with G/W only really supporting their moneymakers (WHFB & 40K, LotR is on Life Support) ... I don't have much hope for Epic.

I think it is a little premature to be making this statement. I know for a fact that one of the Sales VP-types in Chicago is a recent and very enthusiastic convert to EA. He started out getting one of "everything" IG and got that painted and there are all kinds of people (GW staff) at that headquarters who are picking up the game. They have plans to host a "Games Day" type of event once a year and it is rumored that someone high up from SG will be in attendance.

Time will tell as to what gets delivered vs. what is promised, but from all the indications in our local area (Houston, Tx), Epic is on the grow, we've gotten HQ's attention and we are receiving support for our efforts.

First off, thank all of you for the compliments.

However, one of the things that I wanted to prove in this exercise is that a Necron army is within everyone's reach. Not that there's anything wrong with the paper counters that were created and placed on the SG site, but I wanted to show that it didn't require "Golden Demon" scale modeling abilities to put an attractive Necron force on the table because let's face it, we play a minatures game and people get attracted to EA because of the idea of using the minatures.

So any budding Necron players with a moderate interest in fielding an army can.

You hide your own skill. Anyone who has seen your "ghost stealths" or Bruce Lee kung fu Crisis suits would attest to your skills.

That's quite true. I'd even go as far as saying that part of the fun of collecting a Necron army right now is in finding the adequate miniatures or doing small conversions to represent the Necron units.

And even if your army end up looking only so-so (which is certainly not the case with your army  :8): ), well it's YOUR army, it's unique and you can be proud of it.

Hope you are correct ... but only time will tell ! ? ?I started Epic in '90 ... so I'm (very) Old School. ?And maybe a bit Jaded ! ? We'll see ! ?

I know exactly where you are coming from.

I'm not a newbie. I started collecting Citadel/GW stuff back in the mid-80's. I've been involved in EVERY version of epic since it's inception. My WD collection starts at around #84 and I faithfully collected each issue for at least 10 straight years. I was heavily involved in Warmaster during its inception and initial growth period. I've seen the ups and downs that Fanatic/SG has struggled with as it gets remade nearly every other year.

What I see as being different now, is that the local GW staff are starting to communicate back to HQ that the SG games attract a very different type of clientele and they are being allowed to encourage them. In the case of WM, a majority of those players are not WFB hand-me-downs. Instead, a lot of them are ex-historical ancients/napoleonics players who got fed up with all the "stuff" that goes on with those game systems, including the historical attitudes. E.g. ? "Fantasy players are losers because they don't play "historical" armies", completely disregarding the fact that the Late Romans never fought against New Kingdom Egyptian armies. Like that isn't fantasy. ?:/

From an Epic perspective, we tend to see a lot of more mature players (i.e. been gaming for a long time) who more than likely were/are micro armor players, who are attracted to the visual aspect of Epic in all of its incarnations and recognize the strength of the game mechanics. That and we get to fight somebody besides Russians and Germans.

From a pure "business" perspective (and believe me, we want GW to see this as a revenue source), they can nurture this group of customers, generate revenue that wouldn't show up in their three core systems because the SG crowd doesn't always cross over into those systems (I am a 40K Tau player, however), and for whatever reason, the SG crowd tends to be extremely loyal to the "system" vs. the company, so they are resilient when less mature players will jump into 40K/WFB, then flip into Warmachine, then over to Star Wars, etc.

So we (SG players) are being recognized as a sustainable resource to be encouraged because we bring continuity and support as part of the package.

Myself for example: I play Tau, that is my primary list and I will always consider myself a Tau player. However, I am in the process of scratch building another entire army, I'm working on developing another list (Elysians, which I am gathering figures for), and will most likely also develop a SM army to a high points level. So, I'm going to put into the system at least four armies. I'm not that unusual in that respect. I recruit for our game system, try to teach others how to play, including my children, have offered to travel in-town to play demos, etc.

So how many WFB/40K players do you find in a similar situation? Answer, very few.

It's been my experience so far, that what I just described, at differing levels, isn't that uncommon for Epic/Warmaster/BFG players.

Just something to think about.

Yes, I've had a W/D sub since '90, and have collected all versions of Epic, too ! ?I don't play 40K ... never liked the rules. ?I collect all Epic armies; SM - incl. Traitor, IG (all types), Ork, Eldar, Squat, Chaos incl. Cultist, 'Nids, Tau and AMTL ... ?And will now add DRM to my 6mm inventory (Doug is a long time personal Epic/6mm e-friend on mine, I'm glad to say ! ) :;): ?And if/when GZG releases 6mm Hammers Slammers (see my Av !), they will be added also ! ?I collect Epic and only Epic ! ?My gaming started in the late 60's and covered most SPI & AH games, etc. and a large mini WWII armies collection ( Which I recently sold  ). ?I also have the unique "gaming" experience from '79-'90 as a US Army Infantry Officer, who served in 4 Inf Bns (1 Air Assault, 3 Mech) and attached to a Tank Bn. ?With operational experience in Central America, NE Asia and Western Europe and the Desert. ?So my out look compared to most gamers is "skewed" ... ? ? ? ? ? But I have to agree with you for the most part ... "old timer" ! ?:D

hey all, just starting epic with the living rulebook and I'm a big fan of necrons(I plan to do a necron fleet this year for BFG) and I must say those obelisks look really good. I can be very persuasive in my gaming group but I can't use the cut out models in my local store and need to proxy so this has started me out with the large process of modeling so when i'm done I will start playing with my friends and help play testing this really promising list by corry(good job on the list)

Well, while others have been wrestling with Tigersharks, I decided to warm up the machine.

Besides, the name "Void Dragon" just sounds too cool.

:/
