So far I only know of 4 sent in, plus TRC's late try. ?Given the ratio of non-forum-participants to regular posters on other things, I'd think that there are probably under 10 total entries.

That's a shame as far as I'm concerned. ?It's hard to claim there is a strong community out there when the response to SG's requests for material is so small.

Honestly, ? I don't think it was lack of answer but a bad way to advertize it.

take this example (sorry to quote you)

Man, I know it's only been a few hours, but I posted both here and on the SG boards about the same time and so far I've gotten 2 responses of "what contest?" and one person who said they started one but never finished it.

I log into the SG forum daily. ?Sometimes more than once a day. ?But I cought the contest due to a post here and not because of the tiny ad with tiny letters on the portal. ?I mean, ?that's the portal that I use to get to the forums every day. ? But you just click on the place you want to go UNLESS something ? :wow: catches your atention.

Bright flashing colors :alien: ?for the next time, ?don't you think?

I can't argue with that.

If anyone didn't get their articles finished in time or, for whatever reason, SG decides not to use them there's aalso a small fan bassed mag called Incoming who will happily bring the stuff... :D

(Just noticed Neal's post on the SG Forum as well :;): )

Speaking of which: I really ned to get those last odds and ends finished. The Christmas issue turned into a New Years issue and is now soon to become an early Easter issue :p  No, seriously I'll get it done tonight and send it to Tom...

I also think that a large part of this is the medium in which this would be published in. I am willing to bet that a competition run similar to this, but without the final large prize and with the prospect of being published in an actual mag would attract more entries. I just dont think that an online publication as official support has the right impact. Yes, it is open access and easily available, but any fool can publish a internet fanzine!  :p

Hmmm.... thoughts about a VSF Aeronef/Aquanef equivalent come to mind, but are unrealistic given my time constraints.  Plus there is a certain very high level of expection (in my mind at least) given the awesome quality and regularity of Incoming! that I would be unlikely to achieve.

Seeing I share Tas' opinions, we're both fools, then....  :p

If only my PhD were over I'd have a go at it.

I would assume that means that any of us who weren't contacted didn't make the cut.

Oh, well.  Incoming will be flush with options for a while...
