Maksim's rules ... Doug's minis ... who knows what else in '06 for 6mm ?! Who needs G/W ?! I'm afraid, after F/Orks in Feb.'06 ? ... Epic may be gone officially ? But we can keep and do what we like ... here ... G/W can "bugger off" !

Hi R. and Gang,
Thanks everyone for all of you positive support!
It was a very hard decision to make to step down as 'Nid Champion, but with the lack of interest in my area, I didn't feel I could properly perform my task anymore. That was my prime consideration in stepping down, not discontent with Specialist Games. I became an Army Champion from love for the game and a feeling of comradery for my fellow fans and when I no longer had any local back-up to help me follow the rules and all the committees, I knew I couldn't properly deliver anymore.

I regret it, but feel that the E-A community will be better served by someone who still has the support of their local community. I feel that all of the new changes are more than one individual acting alone can properly take in.
When Chern was still playing E-A, I felt like we had at least two minds to deal with how the new changes affect the rules, but when he decided tot ake hiatus from E-A out of frustration, I knew somewhere in my gut that I should eventually follow. I wish that I had made the decision to step down earlier since I haven't produced much in the last few months. I should have let it go then.
Quote (ragnarok @ 31 Dec. 2005 (08:54)) | You were a great Army champion, putting up with all of our "great ideas" and sorting out the good ones. |
I did what I could and assuming the "40k rules committee" doesn't through out a lot of the good ideas I came up with for the E-A 'Nid list, my mark will remain on the list.
Quote (ragnarok @ 31 Dec. 2005 (08:54)) | Only to be shafted by GWs policies on what they want you to do. |
To be honest, I don't know whose policies shafted me. That was one of the difficulties I disliked most when dealing with GW is that a tremendous amount of GW / Specialist Games / Jervis business goes on behind closed doors. Company decisions are highly scretive and the company clearly doesn't think much of a large portion of its customer base.
Forgeworld is sort of an anomoly because they've been given enough freedom to make important decisions... not so with army champions. I was given either very restrictive guidelines or too few guidelines at all. I would be restricted from one avenue of development only to see Forgeworld or the company proper do that first. It was frustrating and I am glad to leave that cycle.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I really can understand your frustration on 'the Forgeworld' matter. Also, strict hardlines to follow is kinda dumb and noot good for the game. A proper Army Champion would never do things against the game thus why restrictions?

Sorry to hear you are stepping down Maksim, I think you did a lot of good work on the 'nid list but I can understant your reasons for stepping down.
I still play E:A with the same one person I have since the beginning, but we certainly arent as keen as we were. In a possible parallel with yourself Maksim, instead of playing E:A once a week, we now hammer out rules for a game we are trying to write , and are finding it more enjoyable and rewarding

Don't worry.
The new 'Nid Champion is palnning to announce himself and take over on Friday.
While there will inevitably be some changes, the new Champion is a solid individual and has been active with E-A since nearly the beginning several years ago. I hope that everyone will welcome the new Champion when he announces himself. I will.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi M/S
Sorry to see that you are stepping back as E/A Nid AC. Even more sorry to see that E/A is as dead as that in your area. If Chern is no longer playing E/ that tells a story.
From browsing the B5CTA boards I can see that Chern is getting increasing into that game. I thik it is good for the industry if Mongoose can continue the great strides they have shown and offer some real competition to GW, along with Privateer Press and Rackham. In the long term the growth of Mongoose is good for all of us- hopefully in time GW will listen & learn.
I am lucky that I still have a couple of players (Jim-Chaos & Alex-IG) locally that still enjoy playing E/A. However there would have been another half a dozen if GW had got their act together and given E/A better support.
I hope that you can keep the E/A flame burning locally and that in time the likes of Chern & your other friends will come back to E/A.
Cheers
James

Hi James,
Chern is a huge B-5 fan. I'm not. I like it, but I'm not into it like him.
I am into having good friends and being loyal to them so I play B-5 with Chern.
Chern has offered to playtest "Planetfall" with me, but we haven't gotten to it yet. I've playtested with other folks and kept my gaming with Chern to B-5 and his Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay campaign.
There are occasionally signs of hope for E-A locally, but right now, all the biggest local players are too frsutrated with the instability of SG and the high prices of GW to want to play much.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
