I am looking for the epic thread for converting tyranid raveners. Anyone out there have a link?

I think nearly everyone just uses the 40K Rippers.

Someone out there has a conversion using a gargoyle and hormagaunt (both epic scale) and the end result looks just a ravener!
I cannot remember where I saw the thread though.

Yes, those are very nice, but the idea of doing that for ~50 models makes me twitch.
The old 40K rippers cost something like $3 for 2 complete models and they look a lot like miniature Trygons, which I like.

Hi!
Not to mention getting enough original tyranids to do such conversions may be difficult.

Hi Guys,
I use two easily-gotten minis as my main proxies for Raveners among others:
- 28mm plastic GW 40k Rippers - 28mm plastic D&D minis Kruthik Hatchlings
I also use:
- Old metal 28mm GW 40k Rippers - Old metal 28mm GW Necromunda Ripperjacks - Old metal 28mm D&D Chainmail Grick - Metal Reaper 28mm Acid Beetles - 28mm plastic D&D minis Grick - Metal 10mm Pendraken Aliens (the baby ones)
And I have now built a 6mm Starship Troopers set so many of those bugs do double-duty when needed.
I have the following SST minis:
- Metal GZG 6mm bugs - Old Micro Machines Starship Trooper minis (Plasma Bugs, Beetles, etc.).
I also have a ton of cheap ants, spiders, beetles, etc. that I purchased at trinket stores for use in sci-fi bug armies.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
