According to the Unstoppable! rule tyranids never become broken as result of losing an assault. So what if the `Nid formation is Assaulted by the enemy and loses the assualt, can the `Nid formation still activate later on (if it has not done so all ready)?

As long as any non-fearless models have moved more than 15cm away from the enemy, the Tyranid formation is totally allowed to take an action later in the turn, even if it has lost an assault that turn... ?yes, Tyranids are that scary! ?*laugh*
Most opponents I play against that win an assault against 'Nids use their winning move to move *away* from any unbroken formations in an attempt to prevent them from being able to getting back into base-to-base contact.

Thats right. Can be a nasty tactic. Especially in a BTBB (bio tank blitz brigade) a tyant and a load of carnies. Get assaulted in a FF, lose and move forwards to that you can activate them and get into CC, with all those MW attacks .
However you have to remember that the combat is wroked out normally. Thus unless they are fearless you will lose troops to the enemy if they end their withdawal with 15cm of them. (1.13.3)

As well, non-fearless creatures can be destroyed by combat resolution. | Which is why BTBBs are so fun. Your opponent kills a couple of carnies ina FF engagement and wins the combat, only to see the remaining brood plow into his lines at three times the speed!
