Ok I had this really cool idea, IMHO, for an Ork tank. Now knowing that I will never have the talent of some of our fellow board members, read Krooza. I figured that I would throw out the idea so it may inspire some young grot or an experienced warboss.
I was doing a little reading about US tank forces in WWII and I saw a picture of the Grant. In my opinoin one of the ugliest tanks ever made. In fact my exact thought was "man that is so ugly it is almost a ork tank..."
And that is when inspiration struck...
For those unfamilar with the "sleek" lines of the Grant here you go.
Line Drawing
Model of Grants
So my idea was to scratbuild/convert a ork tank that would count as a looted Leman Russ in the look of the US built Grant.
The hull mounted cannon would be the battle cannon while the 37mm in the small turret would count as the hull mounted lascannon option on the Leman Russ. The small machine gun cupola at the top can be a storm bolter or heavy stubber upgrade.
So what to you guys think?
Hey Krooza how much would a commision of such a thing cost?

Great idea CC, and the Grant would make a good orky tank. Go for it Krooza I must say that actually the Grant/Lee is one of my favourites, maybe it's it's quirkiness.

Great idea, CC. If you already had a Grant model of the proper scale, it would be real easy to orkify it.

I just don't know if I have the talent.
With all honesty the orks have always interested me just for their sheer modeling oppurtunities.
But there are a few things about the basic ork mini that bother me. I wish I could create a Blood axe army that is made up of orks looking like ragged soldiers in trenchcoats; some form of deranged storm troopers from WWI.
I guess that would invlove green stuff and I have no talent there. I really don't like that every ork uses the standard tank top, wife beater uniform.

Looks like a gud idea. The trakkz need to be much wider n the whole shape needs to be less rounded. No commissiontill after Xmas now Im afraid.
