We have another cat. It seems that Indy's former mate has finally stopped fearing us. At first it looked like she was not going to stay, but in the end, she did. a few days afterwards, however, two of the cats, Ghost and Piggy went missing. They have not shown up for a week now, and I am starting to get really worried.
Had a bad streak recently. Things seem to break down whenever I am nearby, like head piece of the most recent Raven Knight model. Beyond repair, will have to convert another Berzerker head to replace it. I started third Raven Knight, while adding little tidbits on the two earlier ones. Finished converting Malachai, will paint him up soon. Sculpted goggles on the Sister of Battle with meltagun. She landed in painting queque. Began painting a Blood Angel Marine. Not sure why, but I just felt like doing one. Painted the flesh on the converted Witch Elf. Elf Flesh -> Pallid Flesh -> very thinned Skull White gave a vary nice result, altough in hindsight I feel that Elf Flesh might be a tad too contrasting with Pallid Flesh. Next time round I'll try out using a 3/1 mix of these colors instead.
I've finally broken through the fear of failure, dug out a few documents I have stored on the subject... and began trying out NMM technique. The Witch Elf has a lot of metal on her, so I decided I'll try out doing NMM on that. Attempt one: left-hand weapon. Well... I was glad I had some black paint nearby, cause the result was utterly horrible (not to mention that I was doing the whole effect upside down...). Attempt two: right-hand weapon. Better, but no donut. It still didn't look like the part. Attempt three: left breast armor. Tried doing SENMM instead (with the sky and earth done in greyscale, cause I don't like the "normal" SENMM technique - it doesn't look convincing to me), and this time it looked much, much better. Not ideal, but I definitely got the hang of how it's done. Today I bought a supply of Chaos Black, Codex Grey, Fortress Grey and Skull White to pre-mix all the required shades for my further experimentation. Seems, however, that I have miscalculated the required amount of Codex/Fortress grey and will have to buy another pot of each. To mix all that together in right proportions I have purchased four plastic syringes, one for each color. Since all of them have a scale, it will all be pretty simple.
