I have made some more progress with my Ork Bommer.

I have blacklined the creases, drybrushed with Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal.

I am painting the panels with Vomit Brown (and a few other shades).

It will then be given an ink/paint wash, drybrushed and highlighted.

More pictures on the blog.

We have another cat. It seems that Indy's former mate has finally stopped fearing us. At first it looked like she was not going to stay, but in the end, she did.
a few days afterwards, however, two of the cats, Ghost and Piggy went missing. They have not shown up for a week now, and I am starting to get really worried.

Had a bad streak recently. Things seem to break down whenever I am nearby, like head piece of the most recent Raven Knight model. Beyond repair, will have to convert another Berzerker head to replace it.
I started third Raven Knight, while adding little tidbits on the two earlier ones.
Finished converting Malachai, will paint him up soon.
Sculpted goggles on the Sister of Battle with meltagun. She landed in painting queque.
Began painting a Blood Angel Marine. Not sure why, but I just felt like doing one.
Painted the flesh on the converted Witch Elf. Elf Flesh -> Pallid Flesh -> very thinned Skull White gave a vary nice result, altough in hindsight I feel that Elf Flesh might be a tad too contrasting with Pallid Flesh. Next time round I'll try out using a 3/1 mix of these colors instead.

I've finally broken through the fear of failure, dug out a few documents I have stored on the subject... and began trying out NMM technique.
The Witch Elf has a lot of metal on her, so I decided I'll try out doing NMM on that.
Attempt one: left-hand weapon. Well... I was glad I had some black paint nearby, cause the result was utterly horrible (not to mention that I was doing the whole effect upside down...).
Attempt two: right-hand weapon. Better, but no donut. It still didn't look like the part.
Attempt three: left breast armor. Tried doing SENMM instead (with the sky and earth done in greyscale, cause I don't like the "normal" SENMM technique - it doesn't look convincing to me), and this time it looked much, much better. Not ideal, but I definitely got the hang of how it's done.
Today I bought a supply of Chaos Black, Codex Grey, Fortress Grey and Skull White to pre-mix all the required shades for my further experimentation. Seems, however, that I have miscalculated the required amount of Codex/Fortress grey and will have to buy another pot of each.
To mix all that together in right proportions I have purchased four plastic syringes, one for each color. Since all of them have a scale, it will all be pretty simple.

Sorry to hear about the cats, t5h.

I'm glad to hear that you're getting some success with NMM.

Forgeworld order arrived last Monday (well, most of it.  Still waiting for the Hellhound).  Some Ork glyph plates have so much substrate that they're almost not usable, except as patternmasters.

Some of the parts are so coated in mold release that primer won't stick to them, after a scrub in the usual dishsoap.  I may have to break out the Simple Green.   !!!!

Had a minor D'oh! with the first 40k Tetra.  The large pegs at the hand end of the arms are NOT extra resin to be removed, they're supposed to be there!  The rest went together quite quickly.  :p   The Skyray needed a little bit of clean up, but looks quite mean.  I had to buy another Hammerhead, though, since my usual antenna array interferes with both the Skyray and variant turrets.  Rigged all the turrets to have swap-able hatches (open or closed), with a bit of pin vise work.

Caught a couple interesting typos in IA3, but all-in-all it's a good book.  The variant Hammerhead turrets aren't worth anything, although the idea of a Devilfish with both a burst cannon and Smart Missiles is kinda sick and wrong.

Going to the FLGS tonight to get the paint I need for the really pure white I'm painting the new suits and Tetras (2 pots each of Skull white and Fortress Gray, and a mixing pot).  It's really cool that you can sit there and paint, so that's what I'll probably do.

Stunning WM Bretts from Tuffskull- that is an amzing amount of detail for so small a figure. Then again for you the WM scale is probably so much bigger than your usual Epic that you probably painted them with a basecoat brush!

Have some Silent Death ships on my painting table. 4 Darts & 4 Pit Vipers undercoated and basecoated yesterday. Hoping to do shading & highlights next weekend. Another couple of squadrons and I will have eneough for fully painted Sigurd fleet.

Cheers

James

Actually put together 2 of the rare F/W 6mm Mk.7 SMs, I got from Doug a few years back ! Easier than I thought !  They will go on one of the SM1 metal Mk.6 CMD stands - WIP.  I have enough Mk.6s to make 2 Tac and 1 Dev Dets ... :D  After years of collecting ! :;):  And continuing work on my Tau TO&Es ...

Done mixing the paints. In the end I just went for mixing 8 instead of 12 ml of each color. These mixes will be also quite useful for other painting purposes of mine, where more diverse grey shadeswill be needed.

Cut up a Wych Succubus mini. Still working on getting the hair separated from the torso, though.
I think I really need to go and get a good saw. The hobby knife just aint doing the job right.

Having a lot of problems with my internet connection at the moment.
Recently I bought a new wireless router because the old one died on me. It solved the problem for a while but my GF's laptop keeps getting kicked off the wireless connection and yesterday even I couldn't access the router though I'm connected through cable. Took the router to a friend's house and everything appears normal.
I'm not sure if it's got anything to do with the fact that there's somewhere between 6 and 14 wireless networks in our area...
By any rate it is extremely annoying.

Cheers! :)

Been working on a BadMoon Stompa for the last few days.
I was commissioned to build a a Basic Stompa stucture which the buyer could then detail himself :;):

10 hrs later this stood on my work bench.

It stands a little over 7" tall. The arms are held in place with Magnets so they are moveable.
Im pretty please with the result expecialy as I didnt do any planz for it before I started the build :D
