Gary,

4.2.6 is up. Fixes your requests, changes Skyray to something for folks to test to see if that does the trick as per that thread on Skyray.

Again, not meant as a replacement of CS work people. The WIP is just a list for folks to continue testing with that they've developed and works for something people can use while CS gets his hands around the various clean up items and remaining decisions in his 4.3.1 list.

As long as people are still using it and CS doesn't mind, I'll keep updating it.

I've just been skimming through the Tau list and stumbled across the XV 88 stats... There's a typo that says "twinn-linked", but what actually made me care was that it said "2x twin-linked railgun" for a broadside. Shouldn't it be just one twin-linked railgun? Guess it wouldn't really change the stats, so it's basically just a question of fluff and / or having the same weapons as in 40K.

There are 2 Broadside suits to each stand!

(Look in the design notes for basing Tau infantry, it's just before the specail rules in the pdf)

"Twinn" issue resolved. see main post for link

also, 2x reflects the fact that there's 2-3 broadsides per stand.

the plasma was never changed to 2x for lack of need from playtest results thus far.

Heh, I even thought about that before, but I rejected the idea because the twin-linked Plasma Rifle on the same broadside wasn't noted as 2x etc.

Gary,

As you've probably noticed, there's been several to ask for this. The way its been considered so far is like the crisis

2x Twin-linked Broadside Railguns
Twin-linked Plasma Rifle
Smart Missile Systems

However, its never really been playtested to the best of my knowledge.

I asked this a while back:  SMS and Plasma Rifles have essentially the same stats (30cm AP4) so it's just a naming thang.

Exactly, so unless the unit needs an additional shot at 30cm or an ignore cover shot, its basically in there.

From a weapons perspective, the unit appears to be working - or at least i've not heard games where there are issues with them not dealing enough damage to AP targets and such is requested. The army tends to have neough AP shots.

So unless there's significant demand for AP on the broadsides, personally, I don't see any reason to change it. If we want to change the name of the weapon to SMS and Plasma Rifles, we can, but its an asthetics change if anything.

Well, I wasn't expecting to actually stir debate on the issue...

If the change is made to SMS, it should include Ignore Cover - but drop the Plasma Rifles altogether.

That's if you want to change it at all.

(I wouldn't mind seeing the XV81, XV84 and XV89 upgrades for Shas'els, with the R'myr suit for a Shas'o - though the latter could be modelled more or less as it stands, not sure whether the flechette dispensers woud be much benefit in CC in Epic. Then again, they could force First Strike units to strike simultaneously, or some such...)

Plus I hope FW make Epic scale models for them! Hey, if they can do O'shovah, why not?
