I have recently started playing Epic after discovering EA at my local GW Games Centre. I have a large Tyranid force dating back to Epic 40K days, so after completing my Epic Eldar Army I decided to dust off me 'Nids and get them re-organised. Inspired by various topics on this forum I got to work on some of my old 40k 'Nids to produce a few ?Hierodules which will hopefully become the main hitting force of my army.
Hierodules
These are converted from the 40k Tyranid Warriors. I am presently working on a conversion of a 40K Hive Tyrant to represent a mighty Dominatrix. Also planned is a few Tyrgons using 40k 'Gaunts. Looks like my 40K 'Nid army will be severaly depleted. ?

Rock! We talked about this a while back in a Nid conversions thread. I have been meaning to buy a box of warriors for exactly that purpose and had more or less the same design in mind. It's awesome to see someone did it and made it not just work but look good.
Kudos.

I agree very nice work. Warriors would of been my second attempt after gaunts. (They have more armour). Please tell, how did you do them?
Strange how you are planning on converting a hive tyrant into a dominatrix. I had the same idea to use the tyrant model for a hydraphant/dominatrix.

Those look awesome! Can you give us a step-by-step modelling demo? ;)

Thanks guys
Converting them is fairly straight forward (I am no modelling guru).
I used the rear section of the warrior. Shortened the tail and moved the legs back just behind their intended location. You will need to tilt the torso to a desired angle and remove some of the leg joint so that they fit equally.
Then its a simple manner of adding the Warrior head to the torso joint (will also need some trimming).
I used the Warrior blades for the large rear claws that simply fit into the original leg joints and two smaller 'Gaunt claws for the front pair.
For the Barbed Hierodule the bio cannons were made by cutting the forward section from the Warrior bio weapon and gluing it onto the trimmed hands of the 'Gaunt spinfist. Using the Warrior bio weapon 'as is' looked too big and you also only have right handed weapons.

Gun_Hit -
Very impressive conversions! Any chance you could post some more photos with close-ups, showing how you did the conversions?
TIA! Larry
