We now have a global release plan (with the exception of Australia)

When I read that, my first thought was, "Oh boy, is Tas going to be mad."

I wonder what the release date for Oz will be?

Hi!

I thought the same thing.

Its not really "global" if you dont include Oz.... ?:;):

The camel's back is now broken and hanging by a small section of skin only.  I'm tired and cranky, at sea and missing my family and so I know I'm taking this out of all proportion, but thats how I feel.

I'd rather play with my aeronefs, and muck about with my kids playing kaiju and dinosaur hunters than continue to support a company that doesnt want me, and for a game I hardly ever get to play anyway no matter how much I enjoy modelling.  The stuff I have, along with the MEGATRADE en route from Maksim, is enough to keep me going for years.

I have been stung by this company far too many times in the past and simply will not continue to pay exhorbitant postage from UK or US now this light has been extinguished- again.

I already adresses this on the SG forum but I think the blog is nice but stupid because of the fact they put it on because of 'civil-unrest' on the forum.

If they informed people sooner and with clear information it wouldn't be that worse.

The part that burns my fundaments is the continued... lets be charitable and call it "distortion"... of facts by GW regarding the business decisions they make.

It's blatantly obvious that the higher ups have made the decision that there's more long term money to be made by selling the same core sets of figures over and over again to a continually replaced crop of 13 year olds than there is in supporting a broader base of players.

And I personally can honestly say that from a business standpoint that in the short to mid term that decision actually makes a moderate amount of sense to me.

Short to mid term only though. And when their target market finally crashes and burns... and with the LotR licence it surely will at some point that being the nature of licenced merchandise... they are going to be in a world of hurt.

Frankly I'm seeing a heck of a lot of parallels bewteen GW and Wizard's of the Coast/Hasbro with their business decisions.

High priced licences, over-expansion in the retail market and just eneral cluelessness about their customer base. WotC had to do a major pull back a few years after they started and I suspect it's going to happen with GW as well. Sooner rather than later.

In the mean time though... I would personally dump GW in a micro second if there was a line or two of high quality 6mm  minitures to serve as a replacement. I just don't find the general quality of Brigade/GZG/IWM to be my taste...

Ergo I'm really looking forward to what Tuffskull has mentioned in passing.

Hi Neal and Guys,

First of all, thanks Neal for posting this information here.

I have no confidence in those forums and don't stop by them very often. The noise to useful information ratio is very high.

Being an army champion, I'm a little disappointed that Jervis hasn't contacted me yet especially since I've never pestered him or E-mailed him unless I had a pretty good reason to do so. He's mentioned that to me before and been grateful.

I have also researched print-on-demand options for my new and upcoming game.

I just wish that GW and Specialist Games would get on the same line and release cooperative news rather than disjointed releases where one part of the company limits the other. Specialist Games, Forgeworld and GW all tend to contradict each other and, at that, more often than not.

I also don't have a lot of confidence in Specialist Games constantly telling me that they are still around. That, in itself, is a bad sign that they feel a need to constantly reassure us that they will stick around. At this point, I've been let down too many times to have more than a skeptical and perhaps overly optimistic view of them. I also feel relatively well convinved that Specialist Games isn't making too many decisions. Some other bureaucratic administrative hoo-ha level of "leadership" is really making the decisions.

In a really sort of weird episode of reality mimicking art, it seems that GW has become its' own "Dark Future" complete with endless miles of bureaucracy and administration forming the Adeptus Terra GW-icus. I wonder who is really the soul-sucking space vampire of an Emperor at the helm of the mindless machine. Whoever he or she is, it's working. I feel like my soul has been sucked out and I'm starting to become very pessimistic about a company I was once much more enamored of.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

Wow! Even when generally optimistic people like our good 'ol pal here, Maksim starts to get "pessimistic", you know Fanatic is going down the wrong path.

Then again, I have been of the opinion that fanatic has ceased to exsist in practical terms and all that is left is an answering machine with a pre-recorded message...

.."hello, you have reached fanatic games, we are not here at the moment, but if you leave a message we'll get back to you before you die... maybe..." :;):

Actually it's more like:" hello, you have reached fanatic games, we are very much here and alive and will not go anywhere despite of several reorganisations and lack of releases. All our minis will be released... sometime in the 41st millenia."  :blues:

The trouble with GW at the moment is that it seems very much focussed on 'how do we get more kids to buy big expensive boxset of armies and games?'  So the sad thing we're all feeling as veteran gamers is that to GW, we simply do not matter.:(

And it has been said on this forum before (several times) that if weren't for the fact that there are so few Epic minis available, as Epic gamers we could just go our own way from GW.  Rules wise we're already doing this to some extent - and I think the rules development for Epic has never been so healthy.  To whit: At last count, I think there are over a dozen variant army lists, official playtest ones, published ones, and fan ones for Epic - more than there have ever been.

But it's frustrating to be waiting for minis, 'cause you can't play the games without 'em (d'oh! :p )

I am very much hoping that Fanatic WILL release those overly-long awaited Tyranid and Chaos minis, but for Necrons and others we'll have to rely on someone else.  Fancy an e-mail campaign to Forge World?:D

Or :whispers it: we could form a collective, try and get the rights off GW to make some new Epic minis (e.g. Necrons) off our own backs (as a 'virtual' community or otherwise)... but that's far too pie-in-the-sky thinking...???

Hi!

I dont mind being ignored...

...its being lied to that gets to me.

If you dont want to support epic for whatever reason, say so. Its a business, if you say theres no profit there. I can understand that.

Just dont tell me your support epic, when all the evidence points to the contrary.

What do you mean "at the monent?" GW has had that attitude for closer to 15 years.    But, you are right, veteran gamers really don't matter to the decision-makers at GW.

I agree with you 100%, Primarch.

Oh yeah, and I also hate the "maybe if we throw them a bone, they'll be happy" attitude.

Like Tas, I've got enough with 9+ E/Forces & terrain to keep me busy forever (at my rate of production !) ... but I'd still like to see F/Orks (probably?) and Necrons (unlikely ?!) ... :(

Given the number of "old hands" that have left GW in the last couple of years I do kind of wonder if there hasn't been some sort of a deliberate push by company management to get rid of them as a part of the companies make-over process.

Frankly speaking Specialist Games in some ways almost comes across as a way of getting rid of Jervis... who has been there far too long to just can... without actually firing him.

Give him a "promotion" and then let him swing gently in the breeze but not giving him any support until he's disgusted enough to leave on his own.
