Hello,

Can anyone recommend me a good carry case to transport Epic stuff around?  I've got an old GW carry case but it's not that great for 6mm scale stuff.  I was wondering if there's anything better out there.

Hi!

I use Plano plastic boxes normally used for fishing implements. You can find them at any wholestore. If you want extra protection you can line the spaces with felt.

I use plastic ammo boxes for .22 cal Remington rimfire rifle cartridges. I like them, but they are, obviously, hard to come by. :p :D

BTW, welcome to the boards, Bombot!

Hi!

Gun cases with foam padding are good. I have several myself that I use for larger figures such as titans.

Tackle boxes are more or less the standard.  The models are mostly lightweight enough that a bit of knocking around won't damage them.

For those that are more vulnerable, you can use felt or thin foam to cushion, or use magnetic strips to anchor them.

I use a modular system with separate boxes and a nylon carrying bag with pockets for all the gaming junk (dice, tapes, BMs, etc), so I just grab the boxes for the army I want and drop them in the bag.  I just use deeper trays without dividers for large models.

I also use Plano.  They make cheap, solid stuff.  A lot of other companies make their boxes interchangeable with Plano's because they are the biggest in the market, but any of the tackle box manufacturers have similar systems.

.22 rimfires?

Hehe... I'll see your .22 and raise you to a .50 cal ammo case. :p

I use the ammo cans with foam inserts cut to shape to transport stuff. They're a bit heavy but nigh on indestructable.

For some reason gun/ammo cases are harder to get in Uk than US!!

I use Figures-in-Comfort cases:
http://www.figuresincomfort.co.uk/
There are several different sized cases (I have several of 4/8/12 tray cases) with wide variety of foam trays from same as current GW foam trays to specific ones for vehicles/Titans.

They are UK company- for US you could also try Battlepack/Skirmishpack from Charon Productions: http://www.battlepack2001.com/
or Sabol Armytransport/Battaliontransport:
http://saboldesigns.net/index.php

Cheers

James

I use Amway cardboard product boxes that I get form a neighbour of my mothers. I makes card dividers (using carefully measured and cut cartridege card, and add foam for delicate models. It is a fair bit of work, but stores the figures very securely (evem upside down etc) and there is very little 'waste space' in this storage technique (still boxes and boxes of them though ;): )

I have used both the fishing tackle boxes and pistal and rifle cases, I've also found certain candy boxes like for some chocolates make good carrying cases, also checkout fabric or pins and needle cases they tend to be made for cradling smaller objects.

Hehe... I actually work for a Canadian defence contractor so I can occasionally snag them from work. I look at it as kind of a tax rebate.  ;)

I've also currently have a couple of end caps off British 81mm mortar shipping tubes sitting on my work bench right now that I'm looking at turning into industrial type structures / landing pads.

Ok, good suggestions all.  Wargame_insomniac - those Figures-in-Comfort cases look ideal for carrying cases.  I think I?ll look into those (I?m in the UK) and adopt some of the other ideas for static storage (chocolate boxes - like it!).

Hehe... I'll see your .22 and raise you to a .50 cal ammo case.

I'll see your .50cal boxes (I use them for tool boxes as they are nicely water proof) and raise you a 127mm HE packing crate!  Its full of all my terrain, hills, trees etc.
:p

For figs., I use tackle boxes, but keep them in a large plastic tool box into which they stack nicely.  The toolbox has small plastic compartments on the top for counters, dice, rules etc
