Since we now seem to have (at least) another 2 years before nids are released ? I was wondering about going back and changing the Gargoyle profile to skimmer (instead of jump packs, like the tyrant) and swapping their FF and CC values.

This way they will be used to tie down enemy formations, like in warriors of ultrima.

Also what about giving warriors the winged option? ? So that a synapse ceature can join a pure gargoyule spoiling swarm

40K does allow for winged Warriors, but it also allows for a lot of other things by mutation. I would like to see Winged Warriors, but from a game point of view it may just confuse matters and I dont think that they would actually add much to the Tyranid force.

The problem with winged tyrants harridans and Vituperators is that they can be targeted seperatly and netuarlise the formation, true this is hard to do with the Harridan and Vituperator, but they eat into the synapse allowance.

Winged warriors would allow for an all infantry rapid strike force.

Hey all -

I've been meaning to post this very point (that Ragnarok makes) for
several months. I'm at a loss for how to field a decently-sized swarm of
Gargoyles - they need synapse, but the only options will either slow them
down (walking warriors), be susceptible to 'sniping' (AV-type Tyrants) or
consume too many points (Harridan/Vitup).

Allowing Warriors a 'winged' option would be a great way to solve this and
I'd really like to see it as an option.

Thoughts?  ???  :D

Yes, it is a problem for the bugs... but is it one that needs to be fixed? The same issue exists in 40K, where the best way to get your Gargoyles forward is Winged Warriors, but they are very expensive, and become obvious targets. Should we really be encouraging Tyranid players to drop swarms out of normal synapse range?

In 40k gargoyles have Ld10 - ie much like genestealers and lictors, they can operate outside of synapse range pretty effectively. This is in contrast to gaunts which are only Ld 5 and really desperately need synpase.

Also Gargoyles are portrayed in the fluff as scouting ahead of the main tyranid force. Perhaps they need independent creature status in epic? Eg a gargoyle brood of 8 or more gargoyle stands for (x?) number of points?

I had another idea along the same lines Markconz.  Basically let gargoyles have silmial rules to the vanguard fleet in BFG.
