Yup, and very enjoyable it was too though a little strangely set out in having a couple of short 'tasters' afterwards, not something I'm used to but interesting nevertheless. Are all the Slammers books similar? perhaps I need to read a couple more to familiarise myself a bit more with the characters.

I'm currently reading Harry Harrison's "In Our Hands The Stars" which is an enjoyable hard SF read, nothing revolutionary, but fun all the same. :)

I have quite a stock of paperbacks to see me through the months ahead, although.... I would have liked to bring ALL my books along, but would have needed a truck just for them... :p hehe

Hi!

I've never read Hammers Slammers. I guess I should pick that up too. :)

Yes, most of the Slammer's books have short stories/tasters or Drake's monologue at the end. I recommend the whole series. Available on Amazon. I liked them very much !  Also I got the Handbook/game rules online based on the books !  Part 2 is due out in Jan'06 !  If any one is interested, I'll send you the site and an excellent Slammer's modeling/gaming site too !  If any one has not guessed, my new Av is the Hammer Regimental Insignia ! :D

I had the link to the rules/models site but lost it. So if you don't mind... :)

For those who like war comics I'd recommend Dc's Enemy Ace: War in Heaven two part miniseries. But be warned: judging from web feedback it seems to be one of those comics you either love or hate.

[homer simpson]Oooooooh![/homer simpson]

A hardcover collection of the Slammers?  Outstanding!

I've mostly been sitting in front of the 'lobotomy box' watching anime, but had to dig out Shirow's works again (what with building an ESWAT Tau army for 40k).  It's an excuse to make some Tau in 'heraldic' uniforms (they're cops, after all), and will be a nice change from my current 'chocolate chip' Desert Camo scheme.

Beat my way through the entire Black Company series, by Glenn Cook.

Also trying to hack my way through the entire Chronicles of Narnia, in anticipation of the movie (previews look awesome, and Weta Studios is evidently producing it, since there are a lot of LotR camera sweeps in the previews), but it's hard going.

Chronicles of Narnia is another thing on my "to read" list, but I decided to hold off until I see the movie. That way I'll be less likely to be disappointed by the movie.
