Painting the torso. Had a little accident with the Bestial Brown (forgot to thin it), so I had to scrape off the paint from the wings on the chest and reapply all over them. But it didn't turn out bad in the end. I still have two highlights to do there, but in general it already looks awesome.

I started converting the skull-pattern CSM helmet to create an updated version of the one I made for Chaplain Raziel - that's because the old Raziel model will soon be replaced with a newer version.

I'm also working on the first of my Raven Knight Space Marines. What is a Raven Knight? Take Black Templar. Put him on a bike. Add an overdose of attitude. Finally, play Manowar music in the background (in particular, Hail and Kill).
The model itself is made basing on the Space Marine Bike, with a few adjustments to improve the visual quality, and the rider is made using legs from the Biker model, Assault Arms sprue, Mk VI legs from the Tactical sprue, sword from the Skeleton regiment, and finally torso of a dark Angels Veteran. Looks neat.

BTW, while EpiComms were down I had some high technical difficulties on my assigned computer in the office - the OS basically went completely nuts, reinstallation failed to work (BSOD's _during_ the final setup procedures, leaving the WinDoze in a state of lobotomy), even despite almost ten attempts. Finally, I obtained a copy of Ultimate Boot CD (as can be expected, the one I had turned out to have been corrupted during download) and made a memory check. Two of the DIMMS were corrupted. When these were removed, the machine returned to normal function, but I was left with 32 MB of RAM - that's kind of little, even for W98SE. So I went and from a computer service I have purchased a replacement part - 128 MB DIMM SDRAM chip. :) Altough this was from my own money, in the end the investment was well worth the result - PC runs smooth and sharp as a razor, currently it's 117th hour of constant function since I started it up, and no crashes, BSOD's or error messages popped up during that period.

Hi all, I've not been able to post (or model or paint!) for a few days as I've just made the move to university in Hertfordshire- am having lots of fun over my first week; as well as meeting loads of intereesting new people and enjoying myself we've been getting settled into the workshop and have I've been getting to know the staff and the rest of the people on my course.

The only bad thing is that I won't have net access to my room til mid October, which is a real bitch; so the next update on De'Aynes will be slightly delayed....

On that note, I'm off to buy a USB disk to see if I can speed things up! :;):

Cheers all, ~G

Good to hear that you're getting settled Storm :;):  The first weeks on a new study is always so hectic. Sure it's nice to meet new people but at the end of the day you're easily totally bombed out from all the things happening around you.

Can't wait for the next De'Aynes update.

Cheers! :)

Joined Work In Progress forum. Lots of converting/painting discussions there - feels like home.

Further painting of the Iron Angel chest symbol. My sculpting doesn't look too much out of place, and the four-color palette on the insignia does really make them look more impressive then I thought them to be (Bestial Brown basecoat + Bleached Bone maincoat, highlight of edges with Bleached Bone/Skull White mix, final highlight of the very mosyt extreme edges with Skull White).

I spent some more work on the Raven Knight. Almost done sculpting a new belt for him, as well as getting the Bolters correctly attached to the bike frame. This was a bit harder thgen normally, since the first thing I did was removing the front plate - the Bolters are in the end made partially from the 3rd edition Bolter and Boltpistol, plus the part connecting to the frame was cut out from the standard Bike Bolters.

A bit of extra work on the future Raziel helmet - I had to apply some little cutting to the "mouth" of the faceplate, and then filled it with GS, reproducing the design present on the original Raziel miniature I made a year and a half ago. Now only thing I have to do is to add some GS to form ridges above the eyes of the helmet.

I have also been working on resizing and cropping more of the pictures. When I'll be done it's going to be a real blast.
In the meantime, I decided that I'll also re-master all of the current pictures of miniatures that were uploaded to my site - at a time they looked good, now they are simply horrible. :O  Nothing a little of GIMP won't fix.

Still working on the river sections. I can't believe how much this varnish stuff stinks. I dare not even think about how many braincells I've lots...tols...slot...erh... lost...

Anyway the old river sections are done but the new ones keep soaking the varnish like a sponge so they need multiple layers for a good glossy finish. I've snapped a few pics and added them to the
Terrain section of the Lounge.

Cheers! :)

Hehe, welcome to Herts! I have no doubt I'll see you in one of the local clubs, I will be the tall lanky guy chatting up the students :D.

Incidently - would be a prime time to arrange a game for Incoming!...

Sad news. The office here is going through major staff changes, and as I was a volunteer, it looks like I'll be saying goodbye too. This will effectively terminate my internet access.
Tomorrow we'll be cleaning up the hardware so that no private parts are left remaining in any of the PC's, and after that we'll do the OS reinstallation on each.
I'll see how the situation develops, maybe I'll have some luck - altough I doubt that to be the case.

That river section looks excellent WM, lovely 'wet' shine to it.. :)

I actually HAVE done some painting now; had a bit of time on my hands last night so painted up my Avatar fig for my TofG Eldar; it was great fun to do; lots of nice, easily highlighted texture and some lovely little details.

Will base it up tonight, and you'll see photos.. heh, whenever I can get them to you lot... :;):

Busy weekend ahead; Freshers Fair tommorow, and then we start training in the machine shop and our introductory projects on Monday!

Well, it's taken slightly longer than I'd intended, but I've finally finished my Epic Iron Hands army! ?:D

I decided to do it on a bit of a whim when I got a load of old Epic minis off ebay, and there were a couple of the older Plastic Dreadnoughts in with it. ?These look just like the Venerable Dreads made by Forge World, and I got to thinking 'these look good, what kind of Space Marine army would use old Dreads like these?' ?And then it hit me - Iron Hands.

I had many spare Space Marines and a few spare Plastic Land Raiders (I decided to use these as Forge World produces a conversion kit for the 40k model to make it a Heresy-era Raider, and these look the same), then set about getting the Predators, Rhinos and Razorbacks to complete the army.

The Warlord I've had several years, when the Adeptus Titanicus II rules were put on the net.

The pic's not so great as it's on my cheap camera, I'll try and take some clearer ones next week and either post them here or on my website.

Anyway, I'm very proud to say I've actually, finally completed an Epic army - just Four more to go! ?

Nice work Firestorm... :)

I based the Avatar this morning; gave it a twist from my other snowy Eldar bases by leaving the area around his feet bare blackened ground- where the snow has been melted off by the intense heat he gives off... looks pretty cool in my opinion! :;):
This morning I painted up the crashed tank that is one of the TofG objectives for my army; I was a bit dubious as to how it was looking undercoated, but am dead pleased with the finished result, can't wait to show you the pics!

Cheers all, ~G
