This thing is particular isn't? Their Manta is pictured as a 9DC thunderhawk  . A giant space shuttle.

In 40K, its a beating stick worthy of some serious punishment... 1980 points in 40K and it can shuttle in your army with a crazy amount of hits... converted into epic - it doesn't even make sense the way they present it. You can tell they didn't put much thought into it, because nobody in their right mind would field the thing they way they have it built, and the rules are all screwed up.

Its pretty clear, they took our old 4.0 list and then added in the units for FW to spruce it up... they have guns that do different things with the same name, special rules that we've tested and deemed failure, they have units like the manta that don't even make sense the way written... on the other hand - the real value is that FW didn't appear to say we were doing anything wrong in development and has basically trusted where the list was going with development. TO me, this is just encouragement for us to go about our own path, and realize that the FW list may have a few things to offer as far as ideas (see earlier posts) but for the most part, is an example of where we've been and where we don't want to get back to.

Hey,

Got my copy of the list on Saturday morning, and while I am a big fan of IA3 in general, I wasn't expecting too much from the Epic list, as it isn't fair to expect FW to have been able to keep up with all of the most recent developments of a list which is still many months from completion - and there was no way they were going to leave in units like the Stingray and Moray without them having relevant figures (I imagine them trying to pass the Emissary or Protector fig as representing the Moray would not fit the kind of standard the book is aiming for - but then, I'd imagine neither do all of those typos and spelling errors...)

Besides, this list is representing what the Imperial forces fought on the ground, and in the skies, at Taros, which is set prior to the 'present day', post-EOT era in any event. Stingrays, Morays etc are out there - they better be, I need them for my Gue'Senshi list! - but they weren't there in this campaign.
