Hi all,
Had a game today, 3000pts, AMTL vs Eldar. Result: win for AMTL.
I had Reaver + Legate + Carp ML + plasma cannon, tubo las. and Multiple rocket launcher Reaver + Vet. Princepts + 3 X Multiple rocket launchers Ordinatus armageddon 2 warhounds paladin house hold skitarii cohort Field guns (mole motars).
Ulthwe Eldar had: Warlock titan Engines of vaul (2 cobra,1 scorpion) 2 gardian hosts with extras 2 aspect troops host in falcons
Game: Badly mauled all eldar hosts bar the warlock and 1 aspect host. achieved hold the line and take and hold. losses include both warhounds and the paladins + lots of void shields.
The two reavers managed to hold the centre of table with support from skitarii and feild guns. The knight after some sneeking around lept on the engines of vaul wiping them out in a protracted firefight. Warhounds were isolated and easily destroyed in a firefight with gardians, falcons and aspect warriors. Ordinatus did little damage but was a great scare for the opposition, while sitting on overwatch covering the right flank. Luckily for AMTL the warlock never hit with its pulsar, although the psi lance can be quite scary.
Thoughts: Paladins are awesome in a firefight/assault if they can make it realatively unscathed. The extra attacks help a heap as do void shields. While they died in the end the 3 accounted for over 600pt of eldar.
Titans that are isolated can be easy pickings for fastmoving assault infantry, which is fine.
Aux. formations are good for harassing and support but rather weak on their own. lack of AT shots can be worrying when faced with armour. which is also fine and fits.
Finally, anything caught in the ordinatus sights better have life insurance, unless they have a holofield!
Overall a good game, the limited number of formations can make you think hard, but when a titan finally finds a vunerable target they can surely dish out some pain. I was quite happy with the list and are looking ?forward to try out some more of the Aux. formations. Knights are verry good when commited at the right time. In future i might replace one of the MRL of the second reaver for the landing pad.
Ok REAL tired now.. sorry if this is a mess.. just some thoughts that you can feel free to coment on. ORTRON

Reavers weren't able to take the Legate upgrade in previous versions. Has that been changed?

Ooops your correct neal, their is no legate option for the reavers. Ok thats one mistake i've made... how many more?
As far as the 4-1 titan ratio, i don't see that being a huge problem since each army has its own strength and weaknesses they have to plan for. This game could have swung either way with a few changes/dice rolls. The fact that a force like eldar can suddenly hit you isolated units, cause mass damage, and then dissapear again plus often retaining the initiative twice, helps them make up for the low number titans.
Also another major factor in the win was the destruction of the engines of vaul. My opponent was very dissapointed with his actions when he brought them a little too close to the knights in preperation for some pop-up attacks. Had they survived the result could have been quite different.
Saying all that, this is only one game, and my oppinion. Others may feel quite differently and i have no problem with that. With regards to knights, well paladins anyhow, i think they are worth their current points, and work well if used properly. As far as a DC of 2 goes, i don't think they need it, and besides they're not really much bigger (volume wise) than a land raider, but if it was to be the case then a point rise would definalty be needed.
My plans now are to start including some assault and support weapons in my titans. On that, could someone post a picture of a corvus assault pod and head as i have never seen one, and would like to scratch build one for one of my warlords.
Thanks neal for picking up the error. Hope you all having a good day.

Well no doubt, a properly handled army and a little luck goes a long way. After playing since '90 and collecting all Epic Armies(9+) ... I know the deal !
