Trust me they don't exist any more.

I went on a tour of the factory last year and our guide had great pleasure in telling me that she knew the molds (for Metal castings) were gone because it was her responsibility to destroy them.

I think I'm going to cry...  :{

If the molds were destroyed, why did JJ tell me to write the list under the assumption they could all be reused?

Molds and Masters are not the same thing.

If I were GW and for some reason wanted to close the Archive for cost reasons as Neil has outlined, I too would sell of what I could in a large sale and then get rid of all of the left over, molds dumped, minis tossed back in for melting, and only store the masters. This would take up a much smaller space and thus allow me to reoffer minis and make the molds contain what I wanted. Like the Reaver with only one weapon combo rather then amold that might have included the two heads or other weapons. etc.

Course that is just what I would do if I were GW.  :L

Good point, dafrca. That makes a lot of sense. ( I really hate to say GW actually did something that makes sense  :p ) As long as GW still has the master, they could make new molds. Maybe things aren't as bad as we all fear.  ???

Dafrca is quite correct.

GW produce at least two masters of each and every model they produce. One is stored in the UK and the other is in the US.

As I said the molds are gone, new molds need to be made. I think that it is due to changes in the casting technique. They have some very nice machines, oh the number of models that could be produced :;): and possibly just to give us old timers something to grumble about :D .
