I noticed that FW doesn't produce a twin railgun version of the Hammerhead, so what has everyone done to represent the Swordfish?  Thanks all!

Check out JG conversion work. He has a post for models that aren't avail yet.

I think he's even managed to 'not waste' any models as a result of his conversion work too.

Two hammerheads turn into 1 swordfish and 1 devilfish if I recall.

Yes, that's correct.

I simply cut off the side parts of a HH (where normally the secondary weapons are located), and used the stock (hope that's the right word) of a 40K Pulse Carbine to hake the turret higher so the two railguns could be glued on.

Then I made two missile pods from the front of several 40K Pulse Crabines/Rifles, glueing them between hull and engines, and cut off and glued a burst cannon to the tank front:

The only part I needed from the second HH was the railgun, so I simply cut off the turret hatch and glued it straight to the place where the turret normally goes, the cut off the pulse carbines from two drones and glued them where the smart missiles normally go - finished Devilfish.

It is quite often that a HH or Skyray ends up as a Devilfish because I need the main turret weapon...

You could of course also go the easier way and leave the TL missile pods in the usual secondary weapon place in the side wings, and also use the normal turret config, just with twoi railguns :)

Actually, I was wondering why you didn't do this in the first place?  I was thinking about getting one of the twin-linked variants of the Hammerhead and just putting railguns on that unit's specialized turret.  I'd get one vehicle to use as a Swordfish and two Devilfish after all is done, but it would get me the units I need since SG isn't going to release any minis for a while.

Word on the street is that Forgeworld has taken over all Epic model productions as of March 2005. 2005 will not see a major showing of new models, but 2006 is supposed to see a significant ramp up of new epic models. No word as to the races/models to be released though.

Stay tuned.

Where'd you hear that?

I'd like more detail if you have it.  It seems very odd considering that FW is supposed to operate independently and not be beholden to the actual game design process for their selection of miniature production.  Making them the de facto SG mini factory would be a big, big change in business model.

I read a post on an epic forum somewhere... I'll go look for it... the guy was quoting "Chris" at "Forgeworld" and had a very official looking article from FW.

I'll go find it now...

OK, looked all over... I'm not making it up... I just can't prove it at the moment. (I hate when that happens)

SO... I went ahead and emailed forgeworld directly. We'll see if they answer.

I remember the freakin thread too... everyone was commenting about how the rest of the SG model line got the shaft as only bfg and epic get any significant attention... blah, blah, blah... Several epic players responded with comments of "whoohoo" and the alike...

D@mnit... well, chalk it up as a rumor until I can find otherwise. From the number of posters and date in the thread - I figured I was late to the game on this news.

Sorry... ignore my above comment until I can back it up... :L

NH - OK, here's the response from FW to address the rumor I posted above. Evidentally it wasn't all rumor...

+ + + Commence Post from FW + + +

Hi

We will continue to produce models for Epic. There was a suggestion
quite a while back that we may take over production of the game but that
was never confirmed. Currently we are continuing doing what we have been
doing.

Forge World

+ + + END post from FW + + +
