It has sprung to my mind that the potential exists to offer boards for playtesting and development here on these forums (in the same way that the playtest boards are currently set up) - since many of the playtest lists are being driven 'underground' to Yahoo Groups. Is this a good idea?  ???

Personally I like the sound of it.

Hi Dysartes,

I was referring to the post that only Army Champions can view.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Funnily enough I find myself reading P and dafrca's comments and nodding my head throughout

Me too, Tas.

Couldn't have said it any better myself, dafrca. I've noticed that you and I often agree.

Hi Guys,

I tend to agree with this line:

Grim: But enough of all that I guess, I just see this latest move a more drastic then it has to be and poorly thought out as a way to achieve reining things in, like using a sledge hammer to fix something when a scalpel would have worked.
Grim.

The 'Nid forum was out of hand for a bit and then I stepped in and sent some personal E-mails out to some unruly members and the problems stopped. One or two people were upset enough to not return, but that wasn't such a loss.

I told them that they'd be welcome to come back if they'd moderate their own behavior and what SPECIFICALLY was the reason I E-mailed them personally.

In my opinion, there is no need to shut down the existing forums... just let the moderators know that they should step in, give warnings and ban unruly members if necessary.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

CS:  If I'm ever in a position to want active playtest discussion, I'd be interested in taking up your offer.

I think that this is the best way of operating - simply to let the various army champions to know that this is a posibility that they are welcome to take up. Does anyone have objections to this occurring here?

No objections here. It makes sense to have it "all under one roof."

Hi Guys,

I like this idea and prefer it to a Yahoo E-group.

The new area could be called "Epic-Armageddon Unofficial Playtesters' Forum" and have a sub-category for each army list that had a champion who wanted to playtest here at Epicomms.

I would love to playtest and maintain a E-A Tyranid playtest forum here at Epicomms.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

That wouldn't be a bad idea, but they need to be STRICTLY moderated. At least until theres a good feel on the "behavior" of the participants.

Hi!

I agree with this. I think forums are better than yahoo groups for input.

But remember, moderate is strongly at first and let go of the choke hold as people prove themselves "worthy".

While I do agree with alot of your statements regarding the SGs epic forum, I have to think that Jervis and the recent lack of actual leadership/ governing of the board had a decent amount to do with it becoming somewhat unrully, people would get to a point where Jervis could have come in with a Management decision on an issue and settled it, as I have seen him do last year before the shake up and that would have been that. Also by asking the Champions of finished lists to open the floor on issues of ballance and then seemingly let the general posters go wherever they wished is I feel what brought alot of those endless posts about, and last not to harp about this but Jervis set up alot of those endless Pop up discussions before even he grew weary of them,
But enough of all that I guess, I just see this latest move a more drastic then it has to be and poorly thought out as a way to achieve reining things in, like using a sledge hammer to fix something when a scalpel would have worked. Grim

Yes, this is a good assessment of the situation as I see it.

Too bad it had to be that way.  :L

Well, let's hope for the future.
