Nice Panzer ! ?But if Robots/AIs like the ones in "Old Epic" [SM1&2], ( I've got 8 dets in metal & plastic !) come into being ... they will supplement the Combined Arms TMs. Like in my Epic Forces ! ?"Send the Robots in First!" ?"Sorry 'Robby', better you than me!"

Yeah, I agree with L4. I think the first ones we will see will be controlled locally at a squad level, to minimize the possibility of communications interference. Possibly some remote armor 'bots after that. Although, there has been some fascinating work done on micro bots like spiders, crawlers and flyers. It is concievable that they would be deployed on a wide scale first. I'm sure the guys in Iraq would love to have an army of spider 'sweepers' to run the roads before they drive them.

Hi Dafrca,
The ones in Israel have a limited AI, but can also be used remotely.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. | Do you have some kind of referance I can look at? I would love to read about them some more.
Thanks

I saw it at first, and in any case, it is working now!

Thanks

dafrca | Hi Dafrca,
I do know where there are some articles, BUT they are only in Hebrew... Sorry!
No pictures either...
The limited AI basically knows how to approach an explosive device and explode it harmlessly.
I've heard that the devices are also being sold to US law enforcement agencies so maybe we'll see an article in English sooner or later.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Terminator makes a good story, but imagine if it happened for real. I would not rate our chances of survival very high.....
Primarch | Maybe we don't give the robots AI so that they can't achieve sentience. I agree, P, our chances of survival might be slim.

Without AI though there usefulness is limited and their ability to react to constantly changing battlefield conditions is small.
One compromise would be remotely operated drones. Controlled by humans safetly away in some virtual reality interphase. Actually we have things similar to this functioning already (those armed drones with cameras).

I'm sure in the near future the UCAVs will be fitted with smart bombs.
