Quote (nealhunt @ 24 2005 June,16:16) | I have to damit that while I think that some of the playtest forums are bordering on non-functional, I think this is going to be a bit extreme.
I'm very curious as to how many things are going to be working from here on - Army Champions, the Rules Committee, etc..
Oh, well. ?As with all things, we'll just have to wait and see. | Hi!
As long as you, Maksim and other reliables can guide things it should be okay.

One of my biggest fears is that this might push some of the Psyco-Fan Boys over here. I like the kind friendly enviroment we have here. I would need to pull back if it grew as toxic and costic as the SG forum had gotten.
EDIT: Not to say I don't like people who disagree with me, just those who feel the need to do so with nasty attitude.

I would need to pull back if it grew as toxic and costic as the SG forum had gotten. | This was my first worry as well. But, I do feel that Fanatic are 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater' on this one. I think that we should be OK, although it may mean that the mods actually have to police this place once in while. For my mind, that is a price worth paying for an influx of new blood and ideas. We also have a good warning system here, where the mods can warn posters which is displayed next to their name. After a certain number of warnings, they simple cannot post. This makes flagging problem or confictive posters very easy and should help to keep a lid on any problems.
I hope that this means that the best posters pop over here, or appear here more regularly. I have wanted to highlight the differences between us and the official forums since the start, and this may mean a focus on new and completely unofficial armies and development. For me, this is great and exciting.
Finally, thanks for posting this - as I had no idea until I read it!

Glad to hear that you have a plan and a means of dealing with it (if it happens).
I should have known you would already have things in place.
Thank You!!!

Well, we have a pretty good crew here ... don't remember any problems with any one. I've been on Epic Yahoo and even saw/had problems(?) there on occasions. Never went on the S/G forum much, from what I saw, there was a lot guys talking about stuff they didn't know much about ... Lacked a lot of experienced gamers, etc. I could be wrong but that was my general impression ...

I agree. They were some tools who though they owned the EA playest process and knew everything about modern warfare to draw parallels into its development. Despite my best (and polite) efforts, they just couldnt be told and I gave it up as a bad joke.
It really came to a head with one particular individual who I'm sure you ALL know of, or are at least aware of...

Well I can only add my voice to everything that's been said.
I think it is fair enough that Fanatic is downsizing and concentrating their web efforts. Hopefully it will mean the Jervis and co. will have more time to get some serious work done though it is difficult not to be sceptical. The Epic Forum has degenerated into an ineffective mess. Sure there's some good ideas posted every now and then but much of it simply drown in the sheer mass of posts.
If I was an infrequent poster on the SG site before I'll definietely be even more so in the future. The increased regulations and tighter forum rules isn't really going to make it a more pleasant place to be. I wonder who will be moderating the boards... If it is moderated like the Epic boards I think it will be allright but other forums such as the BFG ones has some pretty zealous mods. Seriously: I got a warning mail from a MOD because I posted a link to GZG's website warning me that if I ever did that again I'd be kicked from the boards...
I am also a bit concerned that EpiComms will get it's share of unpleasant types now... I hope the overall laid back tone on these boards will not change but as a Mod I'll definitely have to keep a closer look at the various threads in the future...
Cheers!

I registered with no problems.
I guess that we will have to wait and see how it goes. I choose to believe that the change will just mean that this place will be the same but better with more banter and chat and interesting discussions. I hope that I a mnot proved wrong. I would love to see more house rules development happening here, and even more modelling and painting!
Having a plan is one thing, but we all know what happens to plans...

Hi Warmaster, I'm not sure I'm registering, but I couldn't get to the site yesterday, and it's ok now. Incidentally, someone might have mentioned this, but did you realize there's a direct link to here in the Epic section - or is that what all this thread is about?
Hang on, it's not ok, I decided to register, and couldn't... I get the regulations screen abd on pressing 'accept' it just reloads the same screen.....
