Board games with chits and flat maps, they can be fun too you know. :p

Board games are how I got hooked on wargames. Epic is the only wargame I have that uses minis. All my wargames are board games, which I have a ton of! ?:laugh:

Me Too. Started with Panzerblitz and moved from there. Had quite a few until I was at school. Sold most of them off just to finance by gaming habit.  :L

Should have kept some though.

I still have most of my old board games from the '70s. However, once I got in the Army ... I didn't buy that many.  Didn't have the time and we were playing our own versions of "Wargames" ... :D    Of course, M1 vs. T80 ... have not played the game ... but it would depend on who's army is in the T80 ... :;): :laugh:

I just spent the last little bit stripping off the paint from 20 old scale Heavy Gear. One cadre of Southerners including a King Cobra and a Support Black Mamba. I also had three squads of Northerners. Mostly Hunters with various weapons, a couple of Head Hunters, a Cheeta, and a Jaguar. They still need a little cleaning up with the wire brush, but for the most part I will be able to reassemble and base coat. :)

As for the Board Games. I do not own a lot of thegames I played. I did at the time. I am unsure I would bother to "recollect" them up as I m not sure I want to play them all again. I did buy the Fuedal game and added the second copy to my stash.

Well, I hope we all have a great Father's day (for those in the US).

I have both MBT and IDF and like both games... still on the shelf. .

I wish they had done more with the Series.

I also loved the Assault and Boots and Saddle set, but sold it when I wqs in school to finance some other stuff. Wish I had kept them. ?:{

dafrca

I did the same thing - I had all of them:  B&S, Cheiftan, Bundeswehr... :{

Actually going off to Uni and then joining the Navy meant that pretty much everything got sold except for my OGRE and Epic stuff, some Napoleonic naval ships and my Star Fleet battle collection... enough to make you wnat to cry at Ebay prices today... :oo

Yes, the person who wrote the rules was very "American". He suffered from the M1 is Superman in tank form issue. Not that the M1 is not a good tank, just the balance was too far to the Blue side.  :;):

Yep. However, it seemed to me that IDF was much better balanced.

Still, good games they were.  :;):

If you are tempted to reaquire any of the old AH games, let me know. I've been thinking about liquidating most of my AH collection.

That's my theory too. Some of the games I probably haven't played since I was in high school. I figured that any revenue I can generate from selling my AH games can be used to buy more epic minis!  }:)

I am on the opposite tack actually.

I have been reaquiring my 'old favourites' over the past year or 2 when they come up on ebay at reasonable prices.  Not that I have played them extensively, I the nostalgic collection is quite comforting.  I guess it comes from 10+ years or so when I was at sea continuously and had nothing.

So I have 're-aquired' games such as:
Panzerblitz
Wooden Ships & Iron Men
Turning Point Stalingrad
Patton's Best
Imperium
Richthofen's War
B17: Queen of the Skies

:)

Gosh, I grew to hate that game. It seemed I could never win. I started to think it was just my copy of the game. So I sold it to a collector. Maybe I will try an new copy some day.  ???

Spent the whole day working on a deck to present about how we did not screw up. Sad part is, we did.  :{

The hard part is, I am defending someone elses screw-up and that is hard.

On the game front, I am trying to bid on a few auctions I really want. Of course those will go too high I am sure.  :L

I have read through the first Hammer's Slammers book again. Great stuff there. Forgot some of the details. Fun to "rediscover" the whole thing again.

The revised graphics in the new version are quite good too!

We also used it a lot as a campaign system for FT games
