Overall, I'd say this group qualifies as a true collection of uber-geeks. :blues:

Ok here's something weird... tonight I'm sneaking into uni to print out lots of wargaming stuff while no one is around :p   .... I'm a geek but I hide it sometimes. Saves the explaining and bemused looks :D

Hi!

I used to do that a lot.

As I got older I now revel in my geekiness! :D

There are definitely credability issues at stake here, espcially in my supervisory capacity:

To my inner circle of friends...well they know or play with me!

To everyone else, I am discrete to the point of secrecy

I dont deny the inner geek, I just keep him beneath a few layers :;):

This is a good point. I try to hold back the geek when at work. It helps me keep the fear higher that way.  :;):

When dealing with Sharks, Tigers, or Lawyers, it is always good to keep the level of respect high. If not...  :o   :oo

But at home or with my friends, I care not what strangers think.

Hm. In peacetime truth is so precious she should always be screened by a bodyguard of lawyers?  }:)

First wargame I bought: Panzer Leader. I was 13 back then and still had to use dictionary to read the rules. I had real difficulties with the LOS rules.

The good ol' times when even several bookshops around here sold wargames. Something they stopped doing a long time ago.  :(

First mini wargame: Rogue Trader.

First historical mini wargame: Tank Charts. The spotting rules are so complex I never got around playing it. I still have a pile of GHQ micro armor in blisters waiting for a game.  :blues:

Me too! But, how geeky do you have to be to worry about being called a geek by computer science students and staff?  :p  :;):

Hi Guys,

I don't worry about being a geek anymore...

I even told my girlfriend when we met that I was a "king of the nerds" and that was how I came... take it or leave it...

I just talk about it in such a way as to make it seem to be an intellectual exercise more than anything else... :)

People are usually awed enough that they never get around to finding out that minis are mostly about toys and fun... :;):

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hmmmm Geeks, I'm still in denial....this really isn't a geeky thing to do, is it?
As to the first wargames I remember playing with my uncle a made up version (have no idea what the set the rules were based on) WW2 in little paper triangles with the vehicle profile glued on. Much later I acquired Command Decision (so long, long ago  ) Used to play CD a lot with my younger brother. After that I aquired Space Marine and it's been that basically ever since. Mind you I can still count the actual games I've had on one hand :(

Ditto for me.  :D  I'm comfortable with who I am. I wear glasses and though I don't use a pocket protector, back in my student teaching/substitute teaching days, I always had a pen in my shirt pocket.  :p

I can think of worse groups to be associated with!
