Elysians are awesome (at dying). It is one of my favorite lists to play. A bunch of no armor infantry supported by LV Sentinels and skimmers. lMacro-weapon Drop Sentinels run independently or in larger formations. Support Sentinels roam independently.
You need a LOT of Sentinels and Valkyries to make the list work. I'd say a minimum of 12 Sentinels and preferably more. A minimum of 8 Valkyries and better to have double that.
Yes, like Paratroops, you'll probably need support especially from Gunships/CAS. And Sentinels are the AT Guns (but much more mobile) like most Paras had in WWII (UK & US used the 57mm successfully). And my Elys have mortars, man packed AT wpns(the US used the Bazooka & the UK the PIAT) and snipers like real Paras ... Remember the Paras, should be used, at least initially , to sieze an OBJ, behind enemy lines, like bridges or airfields, etc.. They are light infantry and like all infantry once on the ground good use of terrain is important. Not as easy to use as an armored formation with FA support. So Elys(Paras) takes a little more tactical "savvy" to be useful . And their strengths/capabilities should be used for certian tactical situations ... Of course I'm biased being a former member of the 101 ...
