How many formation ca do i need of the different kind?

Thank you in advance.

from my experience (in losing many games to the Tau....) I think a good activation count (11-13) is sound, with several recon units (depending on role, usually all pirhana or all tetra) a couple of units of mechanised fire warriors, and some hammerheads, then sprinkle in crisis suits, baracudas, broadsides and pathfinders to taste....

check out the epic-uk website for sample lists, I believe Steve54 has won a couple of tournaments with his well honed Tau force (he's certainly given me a sound pasting on multiple occasions with it)

don't forget co-ordinated fire, you can do serious damage with it, and although crisis look good on paper, they're often isolated, so avoid heaping on the upgrades to avoid them being BTS

I've fallen foul of garrisoned broadsides too, very potent with their long range and reinforced armour
