Hey guys
bearing in mind I have little trouble fielding most units (
http://thestrategon.blogspot.com.au/201 ... lands.html), the problem I'm facing is the 1.5k limit to an upcoming game.
This is what I came up with
- Swooping Hawk Warhost with Autach and Exarch (BTS @ 400pt)
- Avatar (
does he need a Farseer to be fielded or is any Eldar command unit...can't remember....) @0pt
- Falcon formation (4 Falcons with 2 Firestorms) @ 300pt
- Falcon formation (4 Falcons with 2 Firestorms) @ 300pt
- Nightwing formation @ 200pt
- Warwalker formation @ 200pt
Firstly, the Autarch and Exarch do gain Teleport don't they? That would be a real bummer if they didn't....
Secondly, my reasoning was that among my gaming community there seems to be a vast predeliction for flying. Especially where Orks and Tau are concerned. Then there usually walls of Imperial Guard armor and Tyranids, there don't seem to many Space Fascists players (last famous words....)
Thus 200pt on the NW for CAP, and the attachment of twin 45cm AA4+ to the Falcon formations. These themselves I bought because of their double AT4+ 45cm shots means 8 shots which is nice.
The Swooping Hawks are to me the quintessential Eldar formation. This formation brought the 300pt count to too many, though, and that was going to make it very easy to get a BTS on me. So I went for an Exarch and Autarch which also grants a Supreme Commander roll.
This is only when he's on-board (ie on the table after teleporting though, right?) and I was going to spend the points on a freebie Ranger activation but opted instead for twin Exarchs (one upgraded to Autarch) to make them a BTS that will be safe and sound til deployed.
The Warwalkers because they'll be the ones tasked with putting a screen up around my own Blitz (20cm scout coherence and a reinforced save, if only 6+, and Lance which is also nice for the points)
What do you think?
Given my stock of figures, what would you opt for? Am I wasting too many points on fragile formations? Scrap the Walkers and Autarch and go a Cobra or other big 'un?
I'm expecting heavy air, one/two war engine units, and possibly massive armored formations from at least one player. And with the Eldar, I struggle on how to counter that except with a crapload of Falcon shots, a BTS that teleports in, and some manner of keeping the forecast air superiority at bay.
All advice/criticism welcome.
May all gay space pirates live to fight another day!
