I went looking for a tactics thread for the Tau and couldn’t seem to find one, does anyone have any tips or tactics to help me defend Tauland?
I used to play Tau in 40k, so I know how they work there at least, but I'd like a bit of guidance for the epic ones, if anyone's sharing. I’m planning to thin down and ebay off a load of my Tau (and other armies) over the next few weeks and I need to work out what’s best to keep and what can go.
Are Kroot good in epic is one thing I'm curious about? I used to like using big units of them in W40k and I want to do the same in epic so I bought 45 stands worth (enough for 3 formations of 10 plus Hounds and Krootox upgrades).

Tactics wise I have found variations on 'Patient Hunter' seem to work best and that the first things in any list need to be at least 2 Fire Warrior formations and a Broadside team. I have had good success with something like this.
Mech Fire Warriors + Skyray Mech Fire Warriors + Skyray Mech Fire Warriors + Skyray Fire Warriors Broadsides Broadsides Crisis + SC Barracuda Orca Hero Recon Recon
You could also always go for a more aggressive Manta attack style list, although not having a Manta model and my playstyle tending to favour higher activation armies I have never tried this.
In regards Kroot, I have no idea how effective a Kroot heavy list would prove, although I know of some playtest games were such a list didn't do that well, but if you just look at the formation in the terms of 10 scouts for 175pts then it looks a bargain.

What would your hypothetical manta list contain? I imagine the manta itself would be a bit of a fire magnet?
