Space Wolves vs Minervan
Finally had some time for a test game with the playtest version of the Wolves. Not to happy about the matchup, lots of RA is not the ideal opponent in my mind.
Tried to field a land based army and in hindsight that was perhaps not the best thing to do but at least it let me try out some of the new units :)

The Objectives was places in the middle and on my right side with a lone objective to the left. I placed some Wolves and the Long Fangs on the left and the rest to the right. Some Gray hunters with a Venerable dreadnought garrison in the middle. IG placed two russ companies in the middle and superheavies on the blitz.

TURN 1
The whole first turn was just me throwing almost everything I got forward hoping to survive until turn 2 and engaging everything I could. One of the Russ companies annihilated the Long fangs and the Warhound killed all but one Thunderwolf. The predators managed to kill a couple of Russes but got reduced to half by the Baneblades.
So by the end of the first turn almost every unit I got was on or close to the middle of the board and every tank had made a small move forward. The Terminators stood close to the Warhound, power weapons ready and the big Great company had rushed to stand in reach of a Shadowsword the Baneblades and a Russ Co.

Turn 2
Terminators did a clean assault against the Warhound, killing it without suffering any damage. It was stuck at one side though…
The Great Co retained and assaulted the lone Shadowsword, almost killing it. The Baneblade retallieted and cut down almost half of the marines. Landspeeders made a bold engage against the Baneblades and pulled it off, only a couple of wounds but the baneblades was forced to pull back. The speeders then formed a shield in front of the Great Co. The Russ Co Sustained on the Great Co killing all but two.
The other Great Co with support of the Venerable made their way through the forest to attack the battered Russ Co but fail to make much damage and is almost destroyed in the process. The Chaplain and the dread regroup
SkyClaws jump in and tries to block the path for a Russ Co
So after a very bloody turn 2 not much was left of the Wolves but they still had a good shot at winning. The superheavy did not rally and the Blitz was almost theirs.

TURN 3
Scouts teleport behind the Russ Co and the Predators use some crossfire to kill a couple.
The tanks kills off most of the wolves but they manage to hold on to an objective in the middle and the Terminators move in to secure the blitz and to be able to finish off the Superheavies in case there would be a turn 4.
Basically they manage to put their dead bodies between the tanks and the objectives. Securing a 2-0 victory. (T&H and Blitz) Leaving almost no unit on their own half of the table in the end :)

Conclusion:
New units… Well the Thunderwolves was smashed to bits before they got much action. Their threat range is impressive but against well armed units I think they will have moderate success. So More testing :)
New Long Fang stats. They didn’t do much in this fight either, a whole russ company killed them in one volley… but even though I like that the stats is in line with the rest of the marines they now feel a little bit too expensive. Compared to the predators for example, (2 of each sort) predators on an advance agains a mixed unit get 2xAT4+, 4xAT5+, 2xAP5+ and 4xAP5+(with shorter range) and the Long Fangs get 8xAP5+ and 4xAT5+… So the same amount of dice but if we take away the shots that both have we are left with 2xAT4+ for the predators and 2xAP5+ for the Fangs… So basically the Predators is better within 30cm and worse (or almost at the same level depending on how you count) between 31-45cm. The Fangs with Rhinos is two more units but the Predators is all AV… To me they are about the same power-level now but the Fangs cost 50 points more. Will try them out some more with that in mind :)
I missed the option for the Terminators to have a Hunter, anyone have anything against adding one? The Landraider based unit is 475 points, a little too much I think but it was fun to actually field them on the ground.
The new pricing got me a 150 points discount, so basically an activation. And the new layout with everything in one big box (Space Wolves Packs) didn’t matter at all for this build. I didn’t even think about it until afterward…
The Fenris Wolves is kind of boring to play with, they rarely do anything but they are hard to get rid of… Thinking about taking away the ATSKNF and making them better in CC or something…
I think I crippled myself a little too much by not taking any aircraft at all. A Thunderhawk and some Thunderbolts is always good. Next time I will drop the Fenris Wolves and an activation for something flying or shooty.
The Tank player had some bad luck all through the game always rolling a hit below average or so but it was still a tight game that could have gone either way.
