This game was a mother 4000 points game between me and Chris C at Rogue Traders Wargaming Club in Birmingham (Rubery)
- I have never beaten Chris in any game of epic...

Looking at the lists you might wonder what I was thinking, I wanted to try lots of trenches and have lots of tactical marines. I also wanted to continue to play testdevastator centurions in land raiders. I realised I could do a fully painted force if I left out my AA choices and put some Tacticals in land raiders. - "I'll probably be fighting necrons with no aircraft anyway" - I thought, the dangers of list tailoring!

We decided to use corner deployment, as we had never tried it.

Imperial guard deployment: mostly in the corner, the two infantry formations garrisoned the objectives in the very tall buildings. (Two of the hydras should have been attached to the inf formations, but they were actually attached as extra AA to the shadowsword and basilisks- don't worry about it - I had no aircraft and it didn't make a difference ;) )

One problem with the lovely DZC scenery is the building block my camera! Here is the centre of the board...I was trying to be clever and use the scouts garrisoning to daisy chain from one T&H objective so I could deploy a long trench in the middle.

Turn 3 was exciting! I knew that my best chance was to go for DtF and TSNP. But I had to hide this from my opponent and try and give him other things to think about.

Here's the board at the end...hardly any land raiders left of the 16 I put on the table, but the thin yellow line just hung on.

Imperial fists had very heavy casualties, the Devastator centurions had a great game, although none survived!
I was really looking forward to using my trenches this game, but all they did was kill one of my landraiders!

The IG player did have a couple of chances in the last turn to deny me TSNP but he was thinking that the game would probably go into turn 4 (most of our games do) and he was focused on that. I was desperately trying to make it look like I was setting up for a fourth turn while trying to take out any of his units that could move into my half.
A very exciting game.
