Thanks! Awesome report! You took quite a number of quake cannons that game, do you feel the performed adequately or do you think a different set up would be better in the future?

There seems to be a pattern of the opposing armies getting TSNP in these reports, are you finding it difficult to get things across the centerline with the AMTL list?

I'm also a bit curious about the death of the warlord in the last round, it looks like it had 4 DC left if I read the picture right. That's some pretty lucky hits for the marauders and some pretty unlucky rolls for the AMTL armor to take it down like that.

Cool. I'm glad the quake cannons are performing adequately. They've been quite the thorny subject to work through on the list.

hmm. Yeah it's definitely a different mind set. A lot of times I find that either getting a warlord or a couple of reavers across the centerline works well and leaving some of the lesser units to contest or claim objectives on my side.

I could be mistaken, but I think that the warlord would still get saves. I believe the section you are referencing is talking about how BM interact with broken formations, specifically the extra hits generated from additional BM on the formation. Basically instead of getting a BM placed, a broken formation gets an extra hit with no save allowed.

ie. If you have a broken formation with 3 units and you fire on them scoring two hits the breakdown would be this: 1 BM generated for coming under fire this translates into a single unsavable hit reducing the formation to 2 units. The two hits are allocated as normal and one is failed destroying a second unit and generating a second BM which translates into a second unsavable hit. This hit destroys the last unit in the broken formation.

Back to the warlord though, since it's fearless it ignores the effects of these extra unsavable hits. The rest of the hits are rolled as normal.

Broken units get saves exactly as normal. There's only no saves against extra damage caused by BMs, but fearless units ignore these anyway.

Agreed Glyn.

So a 'Fearless' formation do not suffer any additional damage from BMs inflicted, while 'standard' formation does suffer these additional hits - so automatically suffers one unit loss for being shot at plus an additional unit loss for each additional BM inflicted.

Note, this is a key way of whittling down Leman Russ formations, and if you get a crossfire on them . . . . ;)
