Ok so I went to a one day tournament on saturday. It was a blast. I played three games. This was my second game and it was against a codex marine army. Frist game will have a battlerport as well, but it will be done by Fredmans.

My opponent had a hard time. He's quite new to the game had played less then 10 games and not a lot with Space marines and never against Tau.

Anywas this was deployment:

SM 1. Thunderbolts go on CAP.

TAU 1. Sustain on scouts with FW on foot. all inf die. Rhinos brake.

SM2. AT Predators advance and break Tau recon.

Tau 2 ????

SM 3. Devestators March to houses near Tau obj 1.

Tau 3. FW with skyray dbl and place a BM on devestators.

SM 4. Tacticals doubl and take out a devilfish. (garden of palace counted as cover, "schrub")

Tau 4. FW with Pathfinders dbl and take out a tactical and a Rhino.

SM 5. Devestators advance and take out a devilfish.

Tau 5. Hammerheads dbl and take out all vehicles of the central Tacticals.

SM 6. AP Predators dbl and kill 1 FW.

Tau 6. Railheads advance and kill all Predators (I was lucky with 7 hits and not a lot of saves made). The lone vindicator breaks.

SM 7. Warhound dlb for some payback. Bad to hit rolls sees only one HH go one.

Tau 7. Sun Shark bombers tries to bomb the devestators (under friendly AA cover). Thunderbolts on CAP intercept.

Sun Shark dfensive AA + two skyrays can't produce a single hit. Thunderbolts produce 3 hits and my airplanes both go down (jinked).

SM 8. Supreme commander tacticals move up to central ruined palace and put a BM somewhere.

Tau 8. Crisis suits dbl towards Warhound and take both shields down and does 1 point of damage. My opponent had misstakingly put himself within markerlights and I was quite lucky with my rolls.

Thunderbolts 2. Tries to break my Railheads to ease turn two preasure on the Warhound. I intercept with Barracudas (which had apparently been put on CAP earlier).

1 Thunderbolt is downed the other produces 1 hit which is saved.

Riptides move up and hit markerlit SC Taciticals. My rolls were very good and MW came in very handy against the Tacticals 4+ save. 4 tactical units are taken out.

Warhound 2 comes tries to give back some hurt. A drone is killed for 2 BMs

On to the end phase.

Space marines rally everyone except for the rhinoless tacticals.

I rally all accept the broken recon.

Turn 2

Initiative went to SM.

Devestators in woods fired at my Riptides placing a BM.


A retain from the other devastators saw me loose another devilfish on the right flank.

He felt threatened by my FW and wanted to put some hurt on them before I could activate. We both agreed afterwards that this was a mistake and that he should have activated his praetors first to shoot my next activation…

I choose to activate my hammerheads as my first for the turn. The advanced and shot up the predators, who broke with only two survivors.

I also retained. It was with my crisis suits. They advanced and shot and killed my opponents Warhound.

I can't remember the name of this tank, is it vindicator? Anyways it sustained on my left flank recon killing one tetra.

I answered with my mech. FW in the palace they sustained fire on the tacticals in the palace. Killing all infantry (including the SC). Two broken rhinos were left.

The two lone scout rhinos assaulted my recon. No one was killed but I lost a tetra to hack downs. I fled behind the central forest close to my blitz.

Railheads were then sent forward, doubling, one or two shields were taken down from the Warhound and markerlights were put in place for my next formation.

Which was my riptide, I doubled (advanced?) them up and hit the warhound for two DC, no criticals, breaking the titan.

A lone thunderbolt was sent in to hack down a recon.

Barracudas then killed the two scout rhinos

2nd Thunderbolt formation went in and wiped out the remaining units from the broken recon

FW on foot dbled up and put a BM on the vindicator.

The marines were out of activations so I went on to my Skyray FW and sustained at the devestators. I killed a bunch of units.

End of turn.

Things were looking bad for the marines and things got worse as my opponent had some mayor bad luck on his rally rolls, actually failing to rally three broken formations.

The warhound rallied but was now standing on 1 DC and one shield.

I'm not sure but I think I rallied all my formations.

on to turn three.

Turn 3

Initiative went to the SM again. First out was the titan with a sustain on my riptides luck was not with my opponent and he was only able to kill a drone and put 1 dc on a riptide.

SM retained with devestators. They advanced out of the wood to contest the objective. Shooting at my riptides but failing to do any harm.

Tau annswered by sustaining with hammerheads on the other devestators on my right flank. The formation was wiped out.

SM wanted to brake my riptides to stop me from contesting the objective and sent in a thunderbolt laying a BM.

I then sent forth my Riptides towards the enemy blitz and killed the warhound who was garding it. I now had all objectives accept BTS and there was no real way for my opponent to stop me with his last activation, so we decided to call it at this point. End result 4-0

I tried to play more aggressivly with my Tau, I have previously been more defensive. I pushed up with my FW a bit and it did work out quite well as my opponent never got the chance to assault me. I think he learnt a lot about playing against Tau.

Anyways game 3 to follow, it was against imperial guard.
