I wanted to try out the "Rug Rolling Assault", so I shamelessly copied his list for this game.
As the armies were picked blindly, I actually was pretty unlucky in the match-up as I fell against F-ERC Squats, which are honestly a bit OP (lists here:
https://acrobat.com/app.html#d=1VR9EfEo7mt*J2IU-jh7iQ).
My list:
Aspects in WS + Exarch + Autarch
Mounted Guardians
Mounted Guardians
Mounted Guardians
Void Spinner
3 Falcons, 2 Firestorms
3 Falcons, 2 Firestorms
4 Rangers
4 Rangers
6 War Walkers
6 Vypers
His list:
Warriors with characters
Hearthguard with SC
Thunderers
Berzerkers
Bikes + Guildmaster
Cyclops
Leviathan
Airship
Gyrocopters
Thudd Guns with Thunderfire
Goliaths with Thunderfire
Deployment:Squat places Warriors and Thunderers on OW garrisons, deploys Goliath on Blitz, hearthguard on Blitz, all the rest evenly deployment zone.
eldar places War walkers and Rnagers on center and left flank, all the rest massed on the right flank (enemy blitz flank) for a massive turn 2 rolling assault.
Turn 1:
Eldar lose initiative, Cyclops opens fire with indirect MW missiles and kills 3 of the 4 Aspect WS including SC and Exarch.
The rest of the turn sees the Eldar advancing under heavy fire, yet still managing to destroy the thunderers and the gyros, placing BMs on everything else, even suppressing enough goliaths to prevent fire.
At the end of the turn, the Eldar are ideally placed for a killing rolling assault on the right flank, but also vulnerable to eventual squat hearthguard assault or sustained fire if they lose initiative. With SR 4 vs SR 3 and having lost initiative in turn 1, the odds are heavily in favour of the Eldar for Startegy however.
Turn 2
Eldar summon avatar in perfect position for the rolling assault of doom.
Squats win initiative again....
Squats shower eldar with double retained 4 barrage templates of Macro-weapons (goliaths and Leviathan) wiping out much oif the Eldar army.
The surviving guardians in assault range fail initiative.
The cyclops zzaps the Avatar... The Hearthguard assault the last remaining guardians...
Game over...
Conclusion:
Had the Eldar won the initiative in turn 2, they would have stayed in the game, however the game would have been far from won even then.
I will try this type of list again, but once more Wave Serpent Eldars underperform.
