Jason got to take his Gargants for another spin, this time against my Iron Warriors (using the new list that's in development).
The Gargant's line up for battle.

My Iron Warriors.

So with much bravery, I teleport my 2 Terminator formations in to start ripping Gargants apart...

Unfortunately, I managed a 1 for my stategy roll whilst Jason rolled a 5
This was all that was left of my Terminators after a Gargant and Greater Gargant finished with them...

My Ordinatus Chaotica (Big Flippin Gun) fired and placed 3 blast markers on 3 seperate formations (killing a couple of Grotz aswell). The Ordinatus will be great against certain armies but against power field protected War Engines, it's of limited value. After the loss of my Terminators, I was relying on the Orks failing a few activations. Your always in trouble when that is your best tactic for victory
The Ordinatus placing so many blast markers should have helped with this but I think that Jason passed every single activation roll for the whole game.
2 Supa-Stompas moved across the boardto attack the surving Terminator stand and Obliterator.

The Orks had a couple of Grot guided missiles and these were both fired at the Iron Warrior Stormsword. Titan Killing missiles = very dead super-heavy tank!
With the Terminators gone, I figured my best shot at defeating the Greater Gargant was to hit it with 2 companies of Iron Warrior Marines at the same time. I moved them in the Greater Gargants direction to set up a huge engagement but stayed in cover until the beastie was nearer.

At the end of the 1st turn, the Orks marshalled everything and cleared almost all the blast markers. They had lost 2 stands of Grots and 1 stand of Ork Boys.
The Chaos force had lost 3 complete formations

.
Turn 2 started with me rolling another 1 for my stategy roll... this is gonna hurt!
The Gargant doubled across the middle of the board and fired at the nearest Iron Warrior Company.

The Greater Gargant retained and headed towards the Decimator Heavy tank and Chosen Scout Marine formation.

The Iron Warrior company is now not in a good position to call a combined assault on the Greater Gargant with the other Chaos marines, so they pull back to guard objectives.

Defilers move to block the Supa-Stompas advance.

The Ordintus again places 3 blast markers on 3 seperate formations (although now that i think about it, I should only have been able to hit 2 of them... sorry Jason).
The 2nd turn ended with the Orks marshalling pretty much everything again.
The 3rd turn began with me actually winning the stategy roll.
The Chaos Marine companies were too far away for a combined assault so I moved one formation up into supporting fire range and triggered an engagement with the other formation.

The fight lasted for 2 rounds but the clanking War Engine was to tough for the Chaos Marines to deal with. The Marines were wiped out and the Greater Gargant had sustained a few points of damage.

The Orks had broken the Decimator Super heavy tank and the the single stand of Chosen Chaos Marines. I had moved them to block the path of any support getting to the Greater Gargant.
Instead, the bulk of the Ork War Engines headed for the other side of the board and beat the stuffing out of the Defilers.

The Ordinatus shelled the Greater Gargant and needed to get 5 hits on it (from 6 dice) to break the behemoth. In a high point of the game for the Chaos forces, I rolled 5 hits and left the Greater Gargant with only 5 DC left and a fire on board.
I had managed to stall the Orks for now and denied them a victory on the 3rd turn. The 4th turn was really a mopping up excersize for the Orks which was helped by the Greater Gargant rallying and re-joining the fight.
I only had the Ordinatus, a single Defiler and a company of Chaos Marines left...
Turn 4 went to me and I launched a desperate engagement on the Greater Gargant with the Chaos marine company. It wasn't pretty for the Iron warriors and they were wiped out whilst doing little damage to the War Engine.
The Ordinatus placed blast markers on a couple of formations and I hoped that they would fail to activate - wishful thinking.
As the 4th turn ended, the Iron Warriors only had the Ordinatus left whilst the Orks had not lost a single formation!

A crushing victory to the Orks.
2:0
Take and hold and They shall not pass.
A great game and Jason and I had much fun whilst rolling dice and making special effects sounds all game (dakka, dakka, dakka... stomp, stomp, stomp... weeeee boom etc).
My Terminators haven't been working for me recently. Maybe I should think of a different tactic... naaa

Here's a better pic of my Ordinatus Chaotica WIP.
