I thought I should try to post a battle report. First, I would like to apologize for the crappy photos, but it is my work cell phone, and due to security policies, we are not allowed to use Internet on our phones, so I am stuck with a very basic cell phone and a very basic camera.

My notes were very rudimentary, and every activation might not be in perfect order, but all-in-all, critical activations and results are correct.

Tyranid army

Nexus Swarm – Dominatrix, 2 Exocrine, Termagant, Gargoyle [515] BTS
Medium Tyranid Swarm – 4 Tyranid Warriors, 8 Termagants, 4 Hormagaunts [375]

Terminator Detachment, Chaplain [400]

Legend:
A – Tyranid Blitz
a – Objectives on Tyranid half

Tyranids face north

Set-up:
Marines place Blitz centred, Tyranids on the eastern flank.
Marines place objective close to the center. Tyranids to the east.

Showdown in Little Tokyo
Image

Turn 2
Terminators teleport close to Genestealers’ building, receives 1 BM
Marines win strategy, goes first.

Image
1 – Terminators engage Genestealers. Genestealers kill one Terminator and get wiped. Terminators consolidate into building.
2 – Hierophant engages Terminators, kills two, receives two wounds, but wipes the Chaplain on combat resolution.
3 – Tyranids retain, engaging Tactical Detachment with Small Swarm A. Due to spawning, 2 Hormagants, 1 Termagant and 1 Gargoyle reaches 2 Razorbacks, preventing the Marines to get out. Marines are then killed inside their vehicles, and the others are wiped in combat resolution.
4 - Whirlwinds A sustain on Small Swarm B, killing some gaunts and the last zoanthrope.
5 – Thunderhawk Gunship assaults Small Swarm A. Tyranids refuse to counter-charge, limiting losses to a minimum and break, withdrawing south.
6 – Dactylii bombards Land Speeders and Land Raiders, hitting all four Land Speeders, but not killing any, Land Raiders are hit as well.
7 – Tyranids retain. Dominatrix swarm advances, fires on Land Raiders and Speeders, breaking Speeders and destroying one Land Raider.
8 – Marines marshalls with Land Raiders, moves to the west and sheds all BMs.
9 – Marines retain with speeders, but fail and break, withdraws north-west.
10 – Small Swarm B marshalls, moves to the east and spawns some gaunts.
11 – Tyranids retain. Medium Swarm doubles to the forest/fields outside the small town, laying a BM on Whirlwinds B.
12- Whirlwinds B fails their activation and holds, shooting at Medium Swarm, killing a few gaunts.
13 – Harridan A (out of pictures) advances and lays a BM on Bikes.
14 – Bikes engage Harridan (out of pictures), breaks it with no casualties on either side.
15 – Harridan B pops up, lays a BM on Land Raiders.
16 – Small Swarm C moves to empty building (out of picture).

End phase:
Marines: Speeders fail to rally.
Tyranids: Haruspex swarm rallies, Harridan fails to rally. Hierophant regenerates back to 2 wounds.
Tyranids spawn back all losses.

Turn 3 – Marines win strategy and chooses to go first.

Image
1 – Land Raiders advance, take out Harridan.
2 – Bikes retain, engage Swarm A, causing it to break, leaving 2 Warriors and a Haruspex in the southern forest.
3 – Small Swarm B engages Bikes, wiping it after a 2-round assault, consolidating on Objective
4 – Whirlwinds sustains on Medium Swarm, killing a few gaunts.
5 – Small Swarm C moves to Objective (out of picture)
6 – Whirlwinds sustain on Dominatrix swarm, killing nothing.
7 – Dominatrix advances, shoots on Devastator detachment, killing a single Marine
8 – Devastators sustain, fail activation.
9 – Dactylii head back to Blitz (out of picture)
10 – Gunship strafes broken swarm in forest, takes out 1 Warrior and Haruspex, leaving a single Warrior (out of picture).

Marines yield, out of activations. Tyranids have Medium Swarm and Hierophant left. Medium Swarm could ensure T&H. Do not remember if the Hierophant could claim DTF as well.

Conclusion: Tyranids won 3-0 with BTS, Take & Hold and TSNP.

Two things on behalf of the Marine player - he used to play against 9.2.1 a lot and was a bit over-confident from beating them repeatedly. The other is that he wanted to try something new, and that he did not expect to play against Tyranids, since we met last game night.

His comments were:
New Nids were more powerful due to Initiative boost. Controlling the board is easier with new nids.
New Nids have a lot more shooting, especially BP:s.

Vengeance shall be mine (when they nerf the nids!). On a more serious note, I felt like I stood no chance at all. I tried to play my usual game vs tyranids but that failed miserably. Next time I will utilize speed more and spread out so I wont lose 70% of my army in one go. Also Spacewolves on thr prowl, they will prove tougher in cc/ff I think
