Minervan Tank Legion, Raiders 2.0
Tank Company: 8 Russ, 2 Executioner – 650
Tank Company: 9 Exterminator, 1 Executioner – 535
SHT Company: 2 Stormhammer, 1 Baneblade – 625
Tank Platoon: 6 Conquerors – 340
SHT Platoon: Shadowsword – 200

Tbolt – 150
Tbolt – 150
3000/9

Bombards proxy manticores, Centaurs proxy salamanders, double turret baneblades proxie stormhammers and the leman russ variants just muddle along – the ones without turrets are exterminators, lennon russles are the regular leman russ. Models with blue hats on in the main photos are armoured commissars and generally more fashion conscious than the other tanks.

White objectives are Knights, black are Minervan.
Battlefield has light industrial complex buildings (impassable to everything in the above lists, 0 infantry) and forests intersected by roads (boulders in the road are just temporarily flattening them out, not used in battle).

Turn 1

N.B. by dint of only printing the end three pages of the army list the old knight shield rules were use by mistake for this turn. Turn two onwards used the correct rules.

Minervans win the initiative and go first, the manticore battery hitting the Baron’s formation for 3BMs. Most formations double and place BMs with minor casualties. The Baron’s formation and the Crusaders both fail to activate. The shadowsword downs a Crusader with a critical, breaking them due to a previous BM. The Knights use their squires to block off the gaps between the forest and building blocks, preventing the Minervans from marching past the middle of the board. On the left flank both sides screen with scouts and BM, setting up and blocking assaults for next turn, the salamanders break after taking casualties from doubling lancers.

The wooded left flank:

Tanks and knights face off on the roads of the industrial complex:

Both flights of thunderbolts BM the lancers, tanking AA fire from ballistae as they disengage with the loss of one aircraft. The Baron, LR exterminators and shadowsword fail to remove BMs.

Turn 2
Minervans win the initiative and with the SC re-roll sustain on the knight errant’s that were threatening the exterminator formation on the road. The executioners MW plasma misses, but the volley of battle cannon shells hit home, blowing away three erratns and breaking the formation.
Image
In response the crusader formation sustains on the exterminators, destroying two. The squires retain, advancing to block the SHT company from moving up the road and placing another blast marker on the exterminators, which break from casualties this turn and failing to remove BMs in the previous turn. The SHT company fails to activate and pepper the nearby paladin formation with seven hits, all saved.
Image

On the left flank the squires advance and re-break the rallied salamanders. The tank platoon of conquers that had been screened by the salamanders sustain on the lancers, killing one for nine hits. Across the lancers, the paladin formation advances and BMs the conquerors. Not wanting to risk assault with the conquerors due to casualties and BMs the lancers instead charge the manticores, wiping them out as they reloaded from the previous turn’s barrage.

The shadowsword fires on the crusaders again, missing. The Baron marshals his formation, removing four BMs. The Thunderbolt formation that had taken casualties the previous turn stands down while the second BMs the squires on the left flank. The final formation of Paladins place a blast marker on the shadowsword.

The broken exterminator formation fails to rally and the shadowsowrd, crusaders and the paladin formation up road from the SHTs fail to remove BMs.

End of turn 2. Reasonably light casualties: four dead knights, the manticores wiped out and a three LR exterminators destroyed. The knights have advanced into the Minervan half, blocking the Legion's advance with scouts.

Turn 3

The Knights finally win the initiative and the Baron, fearing ignominy in front of his men from his inaction in the first two turns, calls are mass charge, leading his paladins to attack the Leman Russ BTS with the aid of squires and errants. The squires engage the tanks in close combat while the knights, being too far away, fire fight.
Image
One leman russ dies to first strike from the knights, followed by another two in the main combat. The nearby SHT company sprays fire into the combat, helping the russes to kill four squires. The knights are at a disadvantage on combat resolution modifiers, but with good rolls force a draw. 5cm counter charge allows the errants to move in, three more tanks fall to first strike and the following attacks wipe out the rest, with no more losses to the knights. The knights win the combat by one and the squires break.

Retaining, the lancers charge the russ platoon, turning the conquers into tank kebabs with their shock lancers and winning the combat, the two surviving tanks falling back. 14 russ destroyed in the first two activations …

The SHT company sustains on the paladins ahead of them, killing two and breaking the formation while the shadowsword to the left of them is broken by fire from the crusaders.
Image
The thunderbolts fail to do anything effective while the paladins on the left assault and wipe the salamanders.
Image
The left flank squires move back and spread out, covering both of the minervan objectives along the central road.

End of turn three, knights win 3–0, TSNP, BTS, DTF

ouch! nice job of coordinating your fms there - screening with the squires while moving up with the Knights, exactly how I'd play them. They certainly are brutal when they get into combat range.

Did you get to test out the Indomitable rule?

Sort of, main effect seemed to be the broken knight formations didn't get shot at as they were no easier to kill and so other formations were a more active threat. Ill post some feedback in the main knight thread when I get some time – possibly tomorrow evening.
