Mostly for statistics (and to show a few pictures):

At the end, almost only the two Warlords remain of the Legion ground forces, but with only one goal (Break Their Spirit) secured, that means we ended in a points tally; The Legion won there, by a large margin. Close game, still.

Lists were:

AMTL
Warlord, 2x Quake, Deathstrike, CLP, CML, SC
Warlord, Volcano, Gatling, 2x TLD, Legate
Warhound, TLD, Plasma
Warhound, TLD, Megabolter
Warhound, Plasma, Megabolter
Sentinels
Marauders
2x Thunderbolts

Space Marines
Tactical, Rhinos, SC
Tactical, Rhinos
Tactical, Rhinos
Land Raiders
Land Raiders
Land Raiders
Bikes
Terminators
Warlord Titan

Note no Marine airpower or AA at all, leaving my aircraft free reign (until turn 4, where I managed to roll a '1' for activation on two of them - and I didn't dare spend the SC reroll, since I hadn't activated the Warlords yet. True enough, one of them rolled a '1' to activate too).

I have very little gaming experience but it seems to me that AMTL wins consistently in these batreps. Even if the opponent brings a clearly tailored list (i.e. 12 Land Raider, 50+ Gun Wagons, etc.). How often does a regular force stop the AMTL?

Before the OP points it out, the marines weren't tailored to fight this AMTL army (as witnessed by their lack of anti air).

However, if what you are really asking is if AMTL have an unusually high win rate against standard non-tailored lists, then the answer definitely seems to be yes.

Well, discounting the possible statistical fluke (must've been shoddy reactor maintenance, the Machine God was most displeased) of the battle vs mech orks, not yet. But I do feel that it is getting harder, as my opponents learn the AMTLs weaknesses.

I don't think the 12 Land Raiders were "tailoring", though; It was more a question of model availability, old-school Land Raiders are abundant and cheap (in monetary terms, not in points).

EDIT: Ninja'ed :)

AMTL has a great win rate against new players, but a less impressive record once a player learns some of the tactics needed to fight them.

I still consider them *slightly* overpowered.

Thanks for the batrep.

and if a guard player fights a legion, you know they are bringing their deathstrikes even if they are 0-1.. and then tons of other things. though if i was a marine i would have brought space support as an orbital strike messes up a titans day.
