Hey guys
Me and my friend Stu played another game the Feared 'Crons vs the Trainee Marines. I think I learnt alot from the whooping I felt at the hands of some pro Chaos last week and was going all out on the attack. Stu on the otherhand wanted to re try his tactic (He loves the idea of marines bailing out of Thunderhawks and Drop pods)...
Necron list: It is the same as I have been running it so far apart from I dropped a wraith and added another unit of immortals to my BTS, the extra fire fight is nice and I find the wraiths get left behind if I teleport away after a fight.

We were fighting over the 'Mega City' with its out lying woodlands. Stu was trying to retrieve some gaurdsmen who were lost on patrol (He had forgotton his real objective markers). The Necrons we trying to retrieve the last of the chaos squats and THE PRESIDENT (some how he managed to get himself and his car to the top of the tallest sky scraper).

For bonus points try and spot the mid game drink and the random coupon!

To Be honest what kind of president would you be if you couldnt organise getting a car to the top of a sky scraper...
Turn 1Teleports
Necrons: Commander Cube, Monoliths 1,2 and 3 all assault the Mega City. The Pylon Lands Majestically next to my portal... There are a few blast markers here and there where cubes land upside down and the like.
Marines: None

Alot of dudes teleported into the Mega City.

Commander Cube Leads the attack.

backed up by his faithful minions.
Priority: Marines
Devestators 1 go on overwatch.
They hear there have been cubes sighted in the area... Better watch out...
Pylon goes on over watchDevestators 2 go on overwatchCommander cube seeing his chance to strike the Marines where it most hurts heroically blows up one of Devestators 1 rhinos. Huzzah! First kill to the king of the cubes.
Woop the cheap shot blasts a silly transport!
Bikes hide after seeing one of their holy transports get cube'dWell the marines have run out of objectives giving the Necrons pretty free reign to dance and prance as on an evil robo skeleton can.
Monoliths 1 shoot Devestators 1 and get no kills
Monoliths 2 shoot devestators 1 and kill a unit of marines.
Destroyers fly out of a portal and get overwatched by Devestators 2 one of the hover guys explodes into component pieces. The rest return fire on Devestators 2 and kill nothing... Pah
The Giant Phalanx 1 assaults Devestators 2 and with the support of some Monoliths, Miniliths and Destroyers manage to kill both Dreads and three stands of marines. The lose a wraith and a unit of warriors in return. All but one of the destroyers are wiped aout and the last few survivours flee to tell the bikes that some dudes totally cube'd them.
Combat Sans Marines. (The yellow gems on the moliliths are to represent used portals)

The survivours
Phalanx 2 moves out of a portal and get over watched by Devestators 1 and two squads fall.
City fighting looks ace in epic!
Phalanx 3 assaults Devestators 1 with alot of assists and wipes them out entirely! (The marines rolled a 1 and a 2 for combat res)

The necron rush over whelms even the emperors finest
Everything for the necrons rally and some warriors and a destroyer pull themselves together. The lone squad of devestators rallys aswell.

Not many marines left here...
Turn 2TeleportsNecrons: None
Space Marines: Terminators drop in to attack the pylon. One gets a blast marker.
The thunder hawks land in an out of the way spot along with the Drop pods.
The Giant space laser targets the presidents position (Apparently the marines were just after his laser proof brief case). Some monoliths are hit by it but they shrug off all the damage.
Marines bail out of their funny looking flyers.

The last of the chaos squats is apprehended by the drop pod marines.... He will be made accountable for his crimes!

The Pylon fancies a piece of that action!

OH NOES!
THe pylon overwatches the terminators and manages to scare one but not do any killing... (We were unsure if you retain unused overwatch actions into following turns... we did it anyway)
The hiding bikes triple away from the Mega City over to their newely arrived troops.
The terminators arrive with a job to do and set to assaulting the pylon. The do a heroic job and inflict a single point of damage to it. It goes critical and the explosion proceeds to kill two stands of Termies... Breaking the unit.
In the smallest way possible the pylon kind of wins by breaking the termies...
It was at this point my opponent conceeded. He did not think he had any options left... What a pessemist.
The game was kind of fun. It was basically my whole army against a third of his... I think it could have gone on longer and with my pylon out of the picture I was not going to do much to the Thunder Hawks. Alot of souls were harvested from the Mega City that day and I managed to secure the lasered President.
Lessons learnt:I definatly think that attacking en masse is where its at. This being said if the game had of continued not alot of my troops would have been able to get to the newely arrived marines.
Dont put the pylon next to the blitz... its too tastey a target.
We have planned another game and the marines are planning to castle next time and use the Thunder Birds for bombing runs rather than transports... it makes it to easy to pick apart his army in sections.
UnitsThe Warbbq still doesnt do anything for me... I play to switch him for a deciever for my next game to try out some BP weapons and throw another unit of immortals in maybe a lord to the flayed ones.
Question TimeIf a unit of necrons moves through a portal and out of another in the same turn does it have to double? Eg: moves 10cm into a portal, that finishes its first move. Then I can move 15cm out of another portal.
Or Can it move freely so it doubles 10cm into the first portal then can move 20cms out of the next?
