Well, at the end of last year Epic-UK wanted to produce another batrep using the lists we have just finished. This time we wanted to do something, er... Epic  :p

So, what could be done with marines, guard and orks?

Operation Market Garden of course!

So a rules pack was knocked together and 7 gamers converged on a freezing Warhammer World to do battle.

Would the Imperial Guard column make it to the drop zones held by the Marines, or would the Orks hold the line and ensure history prevails?

Well read the result here

Thanks to Tiny Tim, Braveheart, Gary, Dptdexys, Steve54, Kev101 and MarkP for playing the game and putting up with the coldest gaming hall on record!

Thanks for coming up with the scenario and doing the report Mephiston, it was a truly Epic game. Great fun to play.

That cursed terminator chaplain on table 3 wil live in my nightmares. He single-handedly (ie, one stand of terminators with a chaplain) won assaults against a fleet of gunwagons, a clanking horde of stompas and the biggest kult of speed I've ever fielded! By the end, even I was cheering him on

Brilliant, I only wish I could get involved in such games!

Well if there wasn't a typo people would complain  ???

There is talk of running the scenario again at the Full Scale Assault gaming day (28th March 2010) so there may be a chance of playing it then if you plan on attending.

"Brigde to Far" --- I just assumed that Mephiston was using Newspeak or something.

One of my all time favorite WWII battles (cool movie as well). Thanx for sharing this... epic tale. I'd love to stage this game locally sometime. We've done the table three equivalent scenario and it's been a lot of fun.

Cheers and thanx for the report!

It was a great day, even if it was warmer outside than in. I love playing bigger games as they allow you to play formations in different ways to a 3k tournament game. My favourite part was bringing on 9 Fighta Bommers as a single activation and wiping out the Valkyrie (with the help of Dave's Dice). And how often do you get to deploy an 800pt formation of Stompas, Dreadnoughts and Flakwagon.

I hope that we can get something sorted out again soon, before the tournament scene comes back. New players always welcome if you can get to Nottingham (UK) we should be able to get the tables again.

Looking at the WHW event calendar the next weekend were tables shouldn't be a problem would be the 27th Feb.

If people are interested in giving it a go and the army lists were sorted before the day then there should be enough time to get the game done.

WHW is open 10:00 - 18:00 on Saturdays.

I'd be up for that, and will ask around too.
