No fancy banner graphic as I'm not frogbear and it was a last minute thing before he gets a kid.
Edit - he's made a fancy banner graphic.

Summery
Vassel '6' Ork preference ticked. World Eater '1' preference ticked.
The Orks had the dice all their own way turn 1, which is handy turn to have it. Later on the terminators managed to use some stored luck to make a bunch of saves, but otherwise all 6's were donated to needy Ork charities.
End Result turn 3
Orks 2 (Take and Hold, Defend the Flag) - 0 World Eaters

850 Great Gargant - Warboss
150 3 Fighta bombers
350 Big Blitz - 2xsupa, 4xflak, 2xwagon
200 Blitz - zap, 2xflak, 1xwagon
200 Blitz - zap, 2xflak, 1xwagon

175 Big guns, zap
175 Big guns, zap
200 7 skorcha, 1 buggy

Hellblades 200
Hellblades 200
Bikes x5, Lord 250
Bikes x4, Lord 200
Bikes x5, Lord 250
6 Berserkers, Bloodpack, Skull Lord 450
8 Berserkers, 4x Rhino 300
8 Berserkers, 4x Land Raider, Skull Lord 600
5 Terminators, Lord, Teleport 550

My mind went blank for stats, however from what I saw in game not sure those terminators are worth 100 each.

Half way through turn 1 - the 3 fighter bombers and 3 flak wagons wipe out the cap.

Vassal is a very interesting tool, and I think it has a very important place within the Epic Community if it wishes to use it.

Forget about the fact that you are proxying troops, as the benefits to playing people across the world and talking to them via Skype is huge. I am definately going to upskill myself further in it's use, and hope to get more games outside of my current geographical location. As TRC and I were using Skype, it allowed us to talk as well which should alleviate any concerns of playing via this program.

Important Notes:

- When playing you tend not to be as exact with moves and it is possible to take liberties with moves. Play with the right people and this should not be a problem. I would be more than happy to play TRC again. He is very fair.

- Setup: Do not take advantage of terrain. Hug it as much as you can. Distances are the hardest thing to overcome in Vassal, and seeing a unit have the move capability to m,ove across a table and shoot at a unit that was lazily placed behind the terrain is heartbreaking. So take your time with your unit setup in Vassal. It will determine in a large part, the rest of your battle.

- It is hard to motivate yourself to learn the program as it is not intuitive, and the screens can be a pain to move between. Alot of the time you are scrolling to see different parts of the battlefield unless you have a larger screen with appropriate resolution, or you reduce the view to about 20-30%. Keep with it and you will appreciate the benefits of playing others overseas.

- Use Skype. Using the chat panel is a pain as it is another screen that you can do without

- Do not try to use the tool to measure distances (thread tool) until you are sure your opponent has finished with it. Just ask. That way, the game will not crash.

Overall, I will be definatly using this more often. I do hope in the future, a small league start up using it.

Cheers....

As for the game itself, TRC's orks roll far too well to be real orks. Surely they are Tau in disguise having a bit of fun.

:)

Good game TRC. You highlighted alot of useful things about the orks. Next time I will be more educated in the ways of the Orks that say Ni!

With logging vassal is a really good tool.

Voice comms are a must as you've said.

When I was testing the tau witch clausewitz we used the voice but also noted activations and targeting in the chat panel. With the logs I could then create exact bat reps with minimal effort and recall required.

You can also take as many snap shots as you like after the event.

I have the luxury of 2 screens now when I play vassal so I have the map on one screen and the rest on another, make is much easier as I don't need to zoom in as often.

This idea has just been stolen. Call the police if you must...   :)

TRC

All feedback helps, so thanks for that. Remember however, they are quite resilient when broken with that RA save and stubborn   :agree:

Edit: Also note that each stand had an extra CC attack that I forgot about. Now I remember it!  *shakes Head*

Ah that would have made a difference in the first assault. 5 more dice to miss with  (on average 5/3 hits on troops in 4+ cover so no difference to the shocking dice roll off there :) ) :)

Be wary of glass hammer stuff - units that are too powerful for their numbers or toughness that become all or nothing and very hard to satisfactorily cost as a result.

Other notes from the game.

Remember to highlight this list unlike the other Chaos lists can upgrade upgrades.

The Rhino/Land Raider CC5+ but no stubborn feels odd. How about giving them frag launchers in their profile rather than it being because they are khorne? Actually call it 'ram' :)

I was looking at spikes myself, but that is also a good idea. It will be reviewed for 1.2.

Cheers dude
