Thanks Flogus, I was just planning on doing a quick summary of the game (with a link to the full report on epic_fr), but this is even better!
So, my thoughts on this game and on the list :
- Obviously, I made a mistake right from the start, I deployed my Dominatrix way too far from the rest of the army. I was hoping to divert Flogus's attention (and troops), but he didn't take the bait and instead concentrated his whole army on one swarm.
- Warriors as LVs : people will notice that Flogus scored the BTS point,
BUT... he only did so after 3 turns of firing only at the AT targets in my swarms AND his army was tailored to fight 'nids (not on purpose, though, he just wanted to play lots of tanks and didn't know I would bring 'nids). With a potential of 30 AT shots per turn, there's no way my Warriors could have escaped. I think it's a testimony to their resilience that they lasted for 3 turns. Incidentally, somebody on the epic_fr forum noticed that, had I taken only 7 Warriors (or 7 Synapses of any kind), Flogus would have been forced to kill the Dominatrix to score the BTS. Interesting point, no?
- Once again, Lictors were underperformers... but then again, against an army with SR5, that's not so surprising.
- Subterranean Swarm: very nice addition to the list. Although, given the rarity and newfound usefulness of Raveners, I would suggest a base swarm of "1 Trygon + 3 Raveners" for 200 points, with the possibility to add up to 1 Trygon and 6 Raveners. This would allow players a bit short on Raveners (like me, for example
) to play a Sub Swarm or two without using up all of their Raveners.
