The other day it was time again for the forces of Nurgle to have a showdown with the forces of the imperium.

Just as last time we used the modified v2 of the DG list from Hena, and the IG was from the handbook 2008, and it was those rules we used as well.

Our forces were the following;

Death Guard

Retinue         300
-6 Rhinos               60
-4 Plague Marines 150   510

Retinue           300
-2 Rhinos         20
-2 Land Raiders   150
-3 Predator       150   620

Terminators
-6 Terminators    600   600

Decimators
-1 Decimator      250   250

Imperial Guard

Mech Company      400
-4 Fire support   100
-2 Chimeras       50    550

Tank Company      650   650

Rough Riders      150   150

Flak Battery      150   150

Artillery battery 250   250
-3 Manticores

Super heavy tank
-1 Shadowsword    200   200

In the deployment all our forces got mustered on the left hand side from me, and the remainder of the table was empty the entire game.

The battle started off with me teleporting my terminators right into the maw of the beast, in a forest just by the Shadowsword in a daring attempt to hope for a win of the initiative.

Turn 1
DG wins initiative.

The terminators let out a roar and charge the Shadowsword and intermingles the hydra battery as well. In the following combat not one of the attacks from the imperials hit, and all units are destroyed by the terminators.

However, most of the imperial army was sitting right next and calmly turned their turrets and fired all they had. When the smoke cleared only on terminator had bitten the dust, and the rest retreated in good order from the combat to the edge of the forest.

Next the Russes activated and sustained fire on the terminators, and a hail of fire caught the two terminators that was outside of the protecting forest, and 11 hits was scored.
But only 1(!) terminator fell! They hard as a whole box of nails!

Next the manticores fired on the mech retinue, but heavy as the rain of missiles was, not a single vehicle was destroyed

In reply the mech retinue advances to behind the small city, ready to strike next turn.

The imperial mech company tries to advance but fail, and slowly moves to the road in front of them.

The decimator marches forward as well, also making ready for the imperial scum to taste some real firepower.

The Rough Riders fails their activation and moves slowly towards the terminators position.

As the last activation of the turn, my retinue makes a daring dash across the board and places themselves in position to engage the Russes next turn, hoping to all that is unholy to win initiative next turn.

The end phase see all units rally

Turn 2
And naturally my dice lets me down when I really need them, and the imperials wins initiative.

And the Russes sustains again, and this time their wrath is pointed towards my poor rhinos. And in a hail of fire, and some wicked good rolling from my opponent (he missed at most 3-4 attacks from the entire formation) all rhinos are destroyed, and a fair share of the marines inside of them as well. The now very broken formation retreats to the forest to lick their wounds.
Next the manticores try to retain, but fail the activation, but as the main point was to get out of the terminators way, they move slowly away from engage distance.

Now the Decimator advances and shoots on the tightly packed chimeras. 4 of the transports and all infantry in them are destroyed and the formation breaks and runs away.

Rough Riders tries to engage the broken retinue, but again fails the activation, and settles on moving closer to the decimator.

Now the terminators activate and remember that they actually have some guns, and sustains on the Russes, and one tank bites the dust.

And as the last formation to act the mech retinue moves doubles towards the broken mech infantry and fires, and all units is destroyed by fire and blastmarkers.

In the end phase all formation except the Russes rallies.

Turn 3
Things get back to what they should be, and Death Guard takes the initiative from the slow witted imperial forces.

The Decimator advances and fires upon the Russes, and in their close formation a lot of them are hit, and 4 of them destroyed, and the broken remains of the formation retreats away from all angry DG formations.

Terminators retain and advances on the Manticores, with some highly ineffective shooting only one is destroyed, but the formation breaks anyway and moves away to take cover behind their tank buddies.

As the last unbroken formation in the imperial army, the Rough Riders lets out a dry and charges the decimator.

The resulting combat is however a disappointment for the riders, only one hit is scored and unsaved and in return 2 riders are gunned down by the crazy inhabitants of the tank. The riders win but the Decimator doesn’t really care.

The retinue engages the riders to make them pay, and the combat has to go on for two rounds, but in the end of the second round not one rider can be found standing.

In the last activation the mech retinue advances and takes two objectives, and fires on the broken Russes, they lose one to fire and another two too blast markers. And with that the battle concludes, with 4 broken imperial tanks left on the battlefield

Victory conditions:
Death Guard: Take and hold and They shall not pass
Imperial Guard: None.
