"Sir, we have located the sites with alien technology."
"Good, let's get 'em before those dratted loyalists get wind of them then."
"Ehrm, Sir... It seem as if they are on a trip to recover some Chimeras they've left without fuel."
"Ah, splendid! A little nice fracas then! Tally-Ho!"

Dratted loyalists set up, from levft to right:
Cover a coward warhound behind a wood and one of the alien artifacts.
Cowards cover among big bumbles at the second artifact to be recovered.
Mech infantry with cheese basilisks has moved forward and taken a good and well earned beating from the artillery of the splendid boys.
Totally unnecessary company of leman russ.
Even more unnecessary company baneblades with demolishers.

Rightly proud riders of the steps.
The first alien artifact found and recovered.
Splendid boys of the precise artillery company, in company with various small and big grunts.
Elite mechanized infantry stand ready to give them bad boys a good bash.
Splendid baneblade all around good men.
Specialized titan hunter shadowsword with supportive baneblades stand ready.

This is where the battle was decided.
I managed to break them; first with artillery and then follow up with some heavy dog and flak fighting.
What I didn't then do was to annihilate them. That proved to be my undoing. Not an apparent stupid move, but when they returned and started shelling directly with three unharmed basilisks...

This is the opening of the second fight of the day.
A company each of leman and baneblade on one side and baneblade and mech inf on the other.

I said there was fighting, right?
My thunderbolts made a ground attack against the infantry company. The loyal scum not only opened up with a hydra, they brought in the patrolling thunderbolts of theirs too. And somehow managed to shoot one down. (The other one got shot down to, can't remember when thou, might've been by the baneblade hydra on th eway out.)
And then those cool and skillful marauders made another run, adding another bunch o'wrecks.

The duel between cool baneblades and silly leman didn't start to well. But the mech infantry is moving up to take the fight to them.

Artillery is good, and things where looking up. In the end lemans where broken and at the battlefield's edge. But none to push them (maybe marauders, but time was also running out).
Kare's baneblades where in good order, as his warhound.
His leman could regroup and his two infantry formations where still in fighting order.
I had one baneblade and a mech inf on the run. A contignent rough riders to far from the foot infantry to do anything good.
Maybe a marauder sweep and then the rough riders to mop up could've worked.
The artillery still had a screen of infantry and ogres, but with no real screen it was fairly hopeless.
Time to concede and leave the field in the hands of the loyalist guinea pigs...

Thanks for a good and nice fight Karegak.
And thanks for the various comments!

That table is brilliant! Are the white pebbles blast markers? Nice idea.

Wow, Erik that table looks great. (Not a GW Table then?) Nice ploughed field too. Where did it come from or is it a home build too?

Hehe, can you spot my Warhound hiding in the woods?

I got the pebbles for Warmachine focus counters originally so in this game occasionally I must remind myself that it's not good to have a pile of them. ^^ The table is at a local gameshop, made by Flames of War-players.

Ah, it's the same at my local store... those Flames of War guys can really put tables together!

Nice looking fight!

Nice flavour text. As far as propaganda goes...  :vD

Yes, engaging the Baneblades with Basilisks over open sights was definitely my high-up of the game. It's almost as if I'd planned it.

Thanks for a very nice game Erik. I suspect there shall be reckoning to kingdom come at the rematch. :)

Indeed that was a high of the game. Three basilisk open fire at short and direct range (short for basilisks that is!).

"Reckoning to...", let me put it this way... I've made an order to DRM.
