well I had my First Epic Armageddon battle, 3000pts Tau Vs Demiurg. It was a good Game, my friend Tristan Squats (using an older Army list, but it was ok) vs my Tau using the latest revision. This was our first outting with the Armageddon rules and although it took us a while, looking up all the rules, it was a good fight and we were both really happy with the rules (to give you an idea we have played epic on and off since the original Adeptus Titanicus...we be old school). The First turn was minimal engagement, my Hammerheads popping up and picking off a few Gyrocopters, and the Manta obliterating a group of Bikes that got a little too close, but the squats managed to control all the objectives. The second turn the squats got aggressive, and decided to concentrate their fire on the Manta (which had been nicknamed the Nostormos, It's size really freaked him out ) knocking down i's deflector shields and giving it a pounding, but not knocking it down. fortunately this allowed all other units to survive virtually unscathed and allowing me to break most of his units. The third turn the squats tried to consolidate there units, hold all the objectives, and inflict a bit of damage but as most of the units were weakened it had little effect. The Tau concentrated on making sure the the squats did not have full control of all objectives and managed to free 2 objectives and break the final unbroken squat group. We decided to call it there, as a Tie, although it appeared the squats had more control, only 1 tau Unit had been broken, and a 4th turn, provided the dice gods favored the Tau the squats would have been hard pressed to stay alive. We were both really happy with the rules, and the army list as much as one was a player created and one was a test version, they both worked really well. I hope to get more people around here to get into epic, I have virtually stopped playing 40k due my disgust with the rules (if they could develop a turn based system like Epic: Armageddon I think I would enjoy it more...but I doubt that would ever happen) and considering you can build a nice army for a minimal investment (unless it is a forgeworld Tau army ....heeheee) I don't see why more people play...other than the fact that GW hides the game and doesn't acknowledge it's existance.
