Hi guys,

Myself and BlackRabbit33 had a great 2000pt battle today with my Siegemasters versus his Orks.

I used the new points values for my Siegers and found the list to be more balanced.

I'm working on the report at the moment so watch this space! ?:)

Deployment
The Siegemasters Take and Hold objective was set up on their left flank, a muddy sand-bagged dugout. Their blitz objective was deep within the Ork lines, on the northern main road.

The Orks Blitz was on the main road heading south. Their Take and Hold was a research facility located on their left flank (the Sieger's right).

Siegemasters from left to right:

Garrisoned near their Take & Hold was the Ragnoraks and Infantry Company Alpha. In the centre, Infantry Company Bravo protecting the line of artillery behind them. On the right flank, ready to contest the Ork objective was the Regimental HQ and Infantry Company Delta.
Deployed to the rear (starting from left) was Artillery Batteries Zippy, Bungle and George. On the southern main road was the StormHammer supported by the Siegfrieds. On the right flank the Rough Riders were deployed, ready to exploit any gaps within the Ork lines.

Orks from left to right

They garrisoned both Warbands within the ruins near their objective. Also garrisoned were both GunMobs on the right. covering the approach to the Sieger's dugout.

The Orks deployed all the DethKopta BBrigades along their deployment zone, behind these were two GunWagon BBrigades. On their right flank, behind the GunMobs they deployed the other three GunWagon BBrigades - ready to swamp the beliguered Siegemaster Infantry Company Alpha and the Ragnoraks.

Turn One

Turn one started off with the Orks gaining the initiative.

The first DethKopta BBrigade failed it's activation and move towards the Research Facility. Seeing that the Ork army was moving to start an all-out attack the gunners of George Battery put down a murderous fire upon the right-most Warband, slaying many Orks. With the Warband's position being marked by great clouds of smoke, Bungle Battery opened up too - with this the Warband broke. In reply to the slaughter, the next DKBB doubled round the right flank and fired some ineffective shots at the RHQ.

The Warband is pounded by the merciless Siegemaster's artillery

Zippy Battery failed their activation; a dud round blocking their barrel. Infantry Co Alpha now came under heavy fire from a GunWagon BBrigade on the left flank, their exposed position making them all the more vulnerable. The supporting Ragnoraks returned fire, their powerful cannon not only proving powerful but also accurate, KO'ing two GunWagons. However, more of the fast Ork GunWagons sped round the flank, further swamping the Ragnoraks with more targets.

Trying to froce the Orks to defend their own objective, the StormHammer doubled forward, followed by it's supporting Siegfrieds. Not only was the left flank threatening to buckle for the Siegers, as the cunning Orks were also flooding through the centre over the hill that was to become known as Inferno Hill. They poured more fire into Infantry Co Alpha which forced them to withdraw.

Infantry Company Alpha and the Ragnoraks are put under tremendous fire by the Orks

With the RHQ and Infantry Co Delta under threat from flanking DKBB's, the RoughRiders attempted to double forward to provide a stronger position. They failed their activation and instead just moved up behind the two companies. The Ragnoraks now came under more fire from the two GunMobs on the left flank, a lucky Ork shot penetrating the massive turret of one of the tanks, blowing it sky-high.

Turn Two
With the Siegemaster lines besieged by the speeding Ork brigades, the Imperial Commander grabbed the initiative.

The Ragnoraks, with sustained fire, put the GunWagons under more murderous fire, further cutting down another Brigade and forcing it to withdraw. The Orks still had more Gunwagons and threw them at the heavy Imperial tanks, but were unable to score any kills.

The Ragnoraks are put under extreme pressure.

In the centre, the Orks carried on pushing more Deth Koptas onto the hill. In reply to this the Siegemaster artillery shelled the entire area. With the Orks trying to pushing through on the left, the Siegfrieds spotted a gap on the right flank and doubled to capture the Research Station.

Imperial artillery pounds the Orks on Inferno Hill.

The Siegefrieds rush forwards as they exploit the weaker Ork flank.

Turn Three
The Orks regained the initiative.

The Orks once again threw their Gunwagon Brigades at the Ragnoraks, but once again their strong armour meant that only one was knocked out. Much of the Gunwagon fire missed. In reply, the Ragnoraks again sustained fire at the Gunwagons, destroying only one.

The Orks throw eveything at the Imperial Tanks, but to no avail...

The Orks, now assaulted the Siegfrieds with their remaining Warband, destroying two of the light vehicles, forcing them to withdraw back towards the Siegemaster lines. Accurate artillery fire once again pummeled the Warband and in turn, forced it to retreat off the hill.

The Orks take the Research Station, but are soon pushed off again.

Seeing that the Imperial lines could not be broken, the remaining DethKoptas exploited Inferno Hill's central position, diving off the hill and round the flanks of the Siegemasters. One DK brigade managed to reach the Blitz objective. To contest the Blitz, the RoughRiders once again re-deployed, heading back to the Blitz.

The RHQ and Infantry Co Delta advanced on the Research Station but the Orks sent in their last remaining unit of DethKoptas, also contesting that objective.

En-masse, the Imperial Infantry marches up the shell-torn hill

DRAW!!!

We decided to end the game at this point. The Orks had taken horrendous casualties and had numerous broken units. The Siegemasters, although not in such a sorry state, didn't have the movement to be able to consolidate their hold of the objectives.

We both had a great game, which at the end of the day is what it's all about! We both agree that the new points for the Siegemasters makes them a far more balanced force, although I found the artillery is still the only real offensive element of the army. I found myself using it to counter the Ork moves, rather than move my units to block them.

I must apologise for the time it has taken me to get this bat-rep posted. Where I work has recently moved premises and it's been rather hectic to say the least!

Cheers Rose4100!  :)

With any luck I'll be having another Epic game soon so hopefully I'll be able to do a bat-rep for that too.
