Another week, and another game..... A rematch against JW, this time we upped the ante to 4k so that we could use some proper toys....

Yes, I know I was 5pts over, and yes I know JW spent more than 1/3 on Titans. But hey, it's toy soldiers and we agreed on it up front.

Warhounds advance

KoS doubles up to the hill, drawing OT fire and inflicting a casualty in response.





War hounds creep up the flank.


Next KoS rushes the devies on the hill, safe in the knowledge that there is now more OW fire to come...



... Only to do no damage!





Tact det advances.


Mech warband moves up to support the gunzmob in T2.

Other mech warband on my left flank repeats the move ready to counter the war hounds in T2.



thawk loaded with termies steams in to my KoS on the hill, avoiding my flak umbrellas.
Much carnage and casualties ensured, mostly on my side...







Zzap brigade moves up and fries the Thawk while it was sat on the deck. Boom.

Warlord stomps forwards, and lays waste to the KoS.
Marines firmly winning this game of 'king of the hill'....


I follow up over the remainder of the turn to try and stick some damage on the warlord, and catch the surrounding detachments with the blasts from the Gargant BP weapons.


Sadly I only managed to knock down some shields on the Warlord, and take out a couple of stands of marines...





Turn one ended, and amazingly all the broken Orks rallied!

Start of T2.

Start by sustaining at the warlord with the G-Gargant. Finally get through the shields and start pinging points of damage of the monster.




War hounds sneak up and let rip at the great Gargant. Sadly the dice let JW down and, he only managed to knock down some shields.



Termies which had teleported in at the start of the turn duffed up some skorchas.




Supa stompa mob sustained at the warlord, and courtesy of some good dice on my behalf, and some shocking armour saves by JW saw the warlord explode in a series of cataclysmic explosions that Guy Fawkes only ever dreamed of....


JW moved his termies down the hill, firing on the warband behind the buildings on my right.
The Thawk also flew in and targeted the same mob.

JWs assault marines engaged my mech warband, hoping to draw on the nearby supporting fire from the warband.


Sadly numbers were against him and the marines were butchered...



JWs contest one of his objectives, firing on my boyz in the process.






In response the gunzmob and mech warband did their best bushwhackers impression and tagteamed the marines.

Two rounds of combat later and both the marines and the mech warband were broken.
Next time they are going to pretend to be some more successful wrestlers instead!

Start of T3...

Stompa mob doubles onto the hill, claiming one of the T&H, and firing back onto the termies in the opening, breaking them.





While this was going on, JWs unbroken termies snuck onto my blitz.




My great Gargant moved up to grab the other T&H, and unleashed everything at the tactical marines behind the hill, breaking them too...


In a cunning move, JW moved his surviving warhound on his T&H on my left flank, claiming that. Before firing at the stompa mob nearby, taking out a stompa and breaking the mob.
This was a blow as I had intended to use them to contest my blitz....



Some posturing on my right flank to ensure the objective was contested and that JW couldn't grab it easily...




THawk comes in to denys one of the T&H....

Bottom left of pic my mech warband engaged the warhound, breaking it, denying JW blitz and T&H in one fell swoop.

The last activation of the turn saw the Deth Koptas launch an audacious assault on the whirlwinds guarding the marine blitz. Several sixes from the whirlwinds later (!!!) and the Deth Koptas were wiped out.

Turn 3 ended, with the scores level at one apiece. BTS to me, an Blitz to JW.
We decided to call it there, rather than rush T4, although I felt I had enough activations left to close out the win.

Really enjoyable game, JW is starting to get the hang of the Epic mechanics, and was great to get all the war engines on the board!

Lessons for myself; a lack of air really hampers my ability to threaten blitzs, if your opponent is using teleporting troops - leave something tough on your blitz!
