Hi Xenocidal Maniac
I'm really impressed with the quality of your battle reports, to the degree that I'd like to ask your permission to republish them to a larger audience on a 40k tournament website.

You can see some of my previous posts here:

3plusplus is one of the biggest 40k strategy sites, so it's done a good job of pulling some new players into epic.

Matt

To echo the others, a superb report.
Great terrain and for me (the uninitiated), the lighting seemed fine. The report missed out on a couple of details which might be better included (Necrons moving the Monoliths and then retaining to disgorge the Phalanx in assault), but omitting these details did not detract too much from the overall feeling of the report which seems to have struck the right balance between an explanation and a summary.

The report did prompt the thought that It might be an idea to write up a separate summary of the E:A "tournament" style game to explain the Objectives system. Reports could then have links to this and other documents or sources (like TacComs) thus building on the existing resources. One such document might be building Epic armies, another the similarities and differences between Epic and 40K games etc.

One last thought is to try to fight E:A battles between armies currently in vogue in the 40K world.
I would also suggest using more 'conventional' armies than Necrons, which in E:A are a difficult army to play with or against. For example, one nasty ability is to assault through portals, starting a small distance from one and exiting the remaining distance from the second in a completely different location. This makes it difficult to relate to in conventional terms.

Thanks so much for the nice comments, everyone!

@Jimmy - I think the Necron player already had a couple of those buildings. But, I believe what you see on the table there is the extent of his collection! We definitely put the buildings you sent us to good use, though.

@Matt-Shadowlord - I would be honored to have my batreps featured on 3++. I also replied to your PM.

@Ginger - yes, I agree that it would be useful to have more explanation for newer players of Epic. I'd like to re-write the battle report with an eye towards introducing new players to Epic mechanics when it is published on 3++
